…nZeppelin#6805)

The resolveUserConfig hook assigned config.docgen to the shared defaults
singleton or the caller's userConfig.docgen object, then mutated root and
sourcesDir on it. This corrupted shared state across config resolutions
and threw on frozen objects. Now creates a fresh resolved object with
spread, matching the sibling hardhat-exposed plugin pattern.

fix(docgen): reset memoized getter state when getter throws (OpenZeppelin#6802)

defineGetterMemoized left state as 'doing' when the getter threw, causing
subsequent accesses to throw 'Detected recursion' instead of retrying.
Now resets state to 'todo' in a catch block so the getter is retried.

Fixes OpenZeppelin#6805 and OpenZeppelin#6802.
…ckpoint (OpenZeppelin#6826)

Add upperLookupCheckpoint and upperLookupRecentCheckpoint functions to all
five Trace types (Trace256, Trace224, Trace208, Trace160). These return
(bool exists, key, value) for the last checkpoint with key <= search key,
enabling TWAP oracles and average-value calculations that need the
checkpoint key in addition to its value.

Mirrors the existing latestCheckpoint return shape. The exists flag
distinguishes a stored zero checkpoint from a missing checkpoint.

Fixes OpenZeppelin#6826.

Walkthrough

The change adds regular and recent upper lookup methods for four checkpoint trace variants. It also changes the docgen hook to assign a new configuration object and updates the memoized getter to reset its state when the getter throws.

  • OpenZeppelin/openzeppelin-contracts issue 6826 requests the upper lookup methods added for the checkpoint trace variants.

Merge Risk: High · up to af2ac

The memoized getter used by docgen contains invalid syntax and will fail to load, so documentation generation will break until throw; becomes throw error;. The new checkpoint lookup functions also need a changeset entry before merge.

Add a changeset for the new checkpoint lookup functions.

This PR adds public lookup functions to the Checkpoints library. CONTRIBUTING.md asks for a changeset in each pull request. The diff adds no .changeset file, so the PR does not meet that requirement. Run npx changeset and add an entry that describes upperLookupCheckpoint and upperLookupRecentCheckpoint for the Trace256, Trace224, Trace208, and Trace160 variants.

Rethrow the caught error.

throw; is invalid syntax because throw requires an expression. The module cannot load, which blocks docgen. (tc39.es)
