🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Make symlink targets absolute before linking them.
If a PATH entry is relative, such as tools, ln -s "$f" "$shadow/" stores a target such as tools/mise. That target resolves from shadow, so the mask hides mise as well as batten. Making shadow absolute does not fix the target. Normalize each directory against the task’s working directory before creating links. (man7.org)
Based on learnings: relative symlink targets resolve from the symlink’s directory.

`_.path` puts target/release first and ~/.local/bin holds the installed release, while CI's test job has neither. A case or hook that spawned a bare `batten` passed locally and failed only on CI; the retired doctor handler cost a matrix that way on #928. test:cargo now swaps every PATH directory holding a `batten` for a shadow that links the directory's other entries, since mise shares ~/.local/bin with the installed binary. test_cargo_path.rs runs the task's marked block verbatim and declares the installed-batten-visible mutation. Closes: CLOUD-1951
With CARGO_TARGET_DIR unset the shadow was the relative `target/no-batten-path`, which every case running in a scratch directory resolved against its own cwd, so the linked `mise` vanished: 28 cases failed `mise: command not found` in the first masked full run. The test now composes its fixture PATH with std::env::join_paths, as primitives.rs requires. The full masked suite passes: 6649 run, 0 failed. Refs: CLOUD-1951
clippy refused the raw std::process::Command (disallowed_types), a format!-collect and two clones. The spawn now carries its #[expect] reason, on target_prune.rs's precedent for running shipped shell under sh. Refs: CLOUD-1951

Closes CLOUD-1951
_.pathputstarget/releasefirst onPATH, and~/.local/binholds the installed release. CI's test job has neither. A case or hook that spawned a barebattentherefore passed locally and failed only on CI. The retireddoctorhandler cost a matrix that way on refactor(gate): retire the engine-verb half of the bash corpus onto batten #928.test:cargoswaps everyPATHdirectory that holds abattenfor a shadow directory linking that directory's other entries. A shadow is needed becausemiseshares~/.local/binwith the installed binary. The cargo statement stays bare, asci-local-parityrequires.tests/it/test_cargo_path.rsruns the task's marked block verbatim over a fixturePATH. The gate istask-test:cargo, with the mutationinstalled-batten-visible.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
