Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Restore failures now produce a failed status and include error details in the submitted restore logs.
    • Google Drive uploads handle streamed data in chunks and support shared-drive requests more reliably.
  • New Features
    • MongoDB backups can exclude specified collections or collection-name prefixes.
    • PostgreSQL backups can apply configured table and schema exclusions.

Walkthrough

Restore failures now produce submitted failed results instead of returning before completion reporting. Database configuration is split into modules, MongoDB backups support configured collection exclusions, PostgreSQL reuses shared option parsing, and Google Drive uploads buffer stream data into 8 MiB chunks.

Changes: Restore failure reporting

Layer / File(s) Summary
Failure results and validation
src/services/restore/executor.rs, src/tests/services/restore_downloader_tests.rs
Restore errors are converted into failed results and continue through completion and result submission. A test checks the failed status and download-failure log after a 404 response.

Database backup configuration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Configuration models, validation, and loading
src/services/config.rs, src/services/config/*
The configuration types, builder, option helpers, and loader are split into modules and re-exported from config.
Backup exclusions and test fixtures
databases.json, scripts/mongo/seed-mongo.sh, src/domain/mongodb/backup.rs, src/domain/postgres/backup.rs, src/tests/domain/mongodb.rs
MongoDB backup commands receive configured exact and prefix collection exclusions. PostgreSQL exclusion parsing uses the shared helper. MongoDB fixtures and integration tests cover excluded and restored collections.

Google Drive chunked uploads

Layer / File(s) Summary
Upload URLs and chunk handling
src/services/storage/providers/google_drive/helpers.rs, src/services/storage/providers/google_drive/mod.rs
Shared Drive URLs include supportsAllDrives=true. Uploads buffer stream items into 8 MiB chunks and retain leftover bytes for subsequent chunks.
Upload behavior tests
src/tests/storage/google_drive.rs, src/tests/storage/mod.rs
Tests check chunk sizes and ranges, encrypted uploads, early stream termination, empty uploads, and URL settings.

RDB file ignore rule

Layer / File(s) Summary
RDB file ignore rule
.gitignore
The ignore rules now exclude files matching *.rdb.

Nitpick Add a test for failed reporting after archive preparation.

74-76: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add a test for failed reporting after archive preparation.

execute_restore reports any prepare_archive error as a failed result. The new test covers only a download failure, so no test asserts the failed POST after prepare_archive returns an error. A decryption failure on an encrypted archive, or a gunzip_to_file failure on the Docker-volume path, can produce that error.

Add a test that serves a backup under an encrypted archive name, returns a body that decryption rejects, and asserts a failed POST to /agent/agent-1/restore. Confirm the fixture triggers the decryption error before relying on it.

Add a restore downloader test that exercises the prepare_archive error path in
execute_restore: serve an encrypted-named archive whose response body is
confirmed to trigger a decryption error, then assert that the failed result is
POSTed to /agent/agent-1/restore. Keep the existing download-failure test and
its behavior unchanged.

Encrypted dumps arrive in 16 MiB pieces while the resumable window is 8 MiB, and the unread tail was discarded. Shared Drive writes also need supportsAllDrives on the request URL, which Google does not read from the JSON body.

src/services/storage/providers/google_drive/helpers.rs:250-286
Major · Stability & Availability · Quick win

Restart the upload after a 429 response.

The 429 branch retries the same session without a limit. Its delay stays fixed because this branch does not increment retries. Repeated 429 responses can stall the backup upload.

Return the error instead. The backup uploader can then retry with backoff and a new session, as the Drive resumable-upload guide requires.

Validate the plaintext length before finalizing encrypted uploads.

If the source file shrinks after its size is read, encryption overhead can make the shorter stream exceed source_size. The upload can then succeed with a decryptable but incomplete backup. Track the plaintext byte count before encryption and propagate producer failures before finalizing the upload.
