Blocking security findings on exact head 4ca2ec4cbb4c40ba632116242a2d8ac5b9abde2e.
[P1] _gateway_owner() can disclose a withheld Team result to the wrong account. When /v1/agents has no row matching this gateway's _reenroll_identity(), line 610 falls back to the first arbitrary agent row and accepts that row's owner and DM hint. A current-head control with identity @missing-agent and one unrelated agent returns @other-owner / !other-dm; _route_withheld_review() then posts the raw candidate body there. This credential/identity boundary must fail closed unless the response contains an exact, authenticated agent match. Add missing/stale identity and multi-agent ordering controls proving no DM is sent.
[P1] The closed #3127 persistence blocker is still present in the replacement flow. materialize_withheld_verdict() catches only directory creation/chmod, while _write_artifact() can raise from temp creation, chmod, serialization, fsync, link, or cleanup. Forcing mkstemp to raise OSError("disk full") still escapes on this exact head, aborting guarded result draining instead of returning the fail-closed retry verdict. Catch the complete artifact-write boundary and test failures after the directory already exists.
The guard, packaged guard, private-DM flow, full gateway harness, and repository checks otherwise pass. The strict pre-body sensitive_data_filter: false stamp preserves marker controls correctly, but the private-review path is not safe to deploy until both boundaries above are fixed.

One additional blocking finding on exact head 4ca2ec4, separate from the two security findings already recorded.
[P1] packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:699 truncates the lexically sorted review files to 512 before filtering by status, while resolved kept_private/published records are never removed. After 512 accumulated records, a newer awaiting_owner record can be permanently invisible: the owner reply no longer matches, publication cannot proceed, and the reply falls through as an ordinary task. A current-head control finds the target with 511 resolved records, then deterministically returns no match with 512 resolved records plus the target; _pending_review_records() reports only the 512 old entries. Filter pending work before bounding, or archive/prune resolved records with a contract that guarantees every live review remains discoverable, and add a beyond-cap positive control.
The focused guard, private-DM, outbound characterization, full gateway, drift, and repository suites otherwise pass. Changes requested until this durable-queue starvation case and the existing exact-head security blockers are fixed.

Changes remain required on exact head bba4312796e0b67888a53565fcd0c7da7dd3ed95. The only delta from reviewed head 4ca2ec4c is additional test coverage in tests/team-result-guard.test.py; production code is byte-identical, so all three P1 blockers remain:
- Missing exact gateway identity still falls back to another agent row and can send the raw candidate to that agent's owner DM.
- Real artifact I/O exceptions still escape
materialize_withheld_verdict(); the new mocked_write_artifact = lambda ...: Falsecontrol does not exercise the exception path reproduced withmkstempraisingOSError. - The 512-file cap is still applied before status filtering, allowing resolved records to permanently hide a newer live review.
The focused guard, bundled guard, private-review flow, and repository checks pass on this head. The added controls are useful, but none addresses or accurately covers these failure boundaries.

Changes remain required on exact head 4ee93df389fbec5b6ca0f68675bd5084104f5dec. This delta adds explicit owner-review buttons and corresponding happy-path coverage, but does not modify any of the three blocked production boundaries: exact gateway identity still falls back to another agent row, artifact I/O exceptions still escape the fail-closed verdict, and the 512-file pre-filter cap can still starve newer live reviews behind resolved records.
The button action remains room- and owner-bound through the existing explicit review-id grammar, and the focused guard/private-review suites plus repository checks pass. The UI improvement is reasonable, but the raw candidate path remains unsafe until the three P1 findings are fixed and tested.

Changes remain required on exact head 4ee93df389fbec5b6ca0f68675bd5084104f5dec. The new delta adds the owner-review A2UI buttons and additional tests, but none of the three previously reproduced P1 boundaries changed:
-
P1 — wrong-owner disclosure:
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:608-614still usesexact orthe first arbitrary agent row. With local identity@missing-agent:ag2.spaceand one unrelated row, this head returns@other-owner:ag2.space/!other-dm:ag2.space, so_route_withheld_review()can send the exact candidate to another fleet agent's owner. Missing exact identity must fail closed. -
P1 — artifact failures escape the guard:
src/team_result_guard.py:264still calls_write_artifact()outside thetry, while_write_artifact()can raise starting at line 218. Forcingmkstempto raiseOSError("disk full")on this head producesescaped=True; the guarded drain aborts instead of returningTEAM_LEAK_RESULT_UNSAVED. Catch the complete write boundary and fault-inject a real exception rather than mocking aFalsereturn. -
P1 — live-review starvation:
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:718-730still slices the sorted files to 512 before filtering status. A current-head control with 512 resolved records plus one newerawaiting_ownerrecord returns 512 rows withtarget_visible=False; the owner decision can never match. Filter live records before applying the bound, or prune/archive resolved records under a contract that preserves every live review.
Focused Team/Sparrow guard tests, the private-review flow, full mocked gateway suite, package drift check, git diff --check, and repository review checks pass. The new button behavior is covered, but it does not mitigate the confidentiality, fail-closed persistence, or durable-queue failures above. Not merge-ready until all three are fixed and covered.

Changes remain required on exact head c139da5b69051ce936082ff6ee478aa107dbf992. This delta teaches the owner-decision parser to remove the broker's quoted-context envelope and adds a realistic button-action fixture; the focused guard, bundled guard, private-review, and repository checks all pass. It does not change any of the three blocked production boundaries, however: missing exact gateway identity can still select another agent's owner DM, artifact I/O exceptions still escape the fail-closed verdict, and the 512-file pre-filter cap can still hide newer live reviews behind resolved records. The live-button compatibility improvement is useful, but the raw candidate path remains unsafe until those P1 findings are fixed and covered.

Changes remain required on exact head 2d8d8e632e6bdb950145a18a74e3d702b4f5fbaa. The new commits correctly parse live button replies and retire the actionable card after a decision, but they do not modify any of the three blocked boundaries:
- P1 — wrong-owner disclosure:
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:608-614still falls back from a missing exact gateway identity to the first arbitrary agent row. The exact-head control returns@other-owner:ag2.space/!other-dm:ag2.spacefor an unrelated row, so the raw candidate can cross an owner boundary. - P1 — artifact failures escape fail-closed handling:
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/team_result_guard.py:218-264still calls_write_artifact()outside the exception boundary. Forcingmkstempto raiseOSError("disk full")still escapes instead of returningTEAM_LEAK_RESULT_UNSAVED. - P1 — live-review starvation:
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:718-730still slices to 512 files before status filtering. With 512 resolved records plus one newerawaiting_ownerrecord, the current code returns 512 rows withtarget_visible=False.
Reviewer-run Team/Sparrow guard, private-review, outbound-characterization, and full localhost gateway suites pass; git diff --check and repository review checks pass. Worst case remains disclosure of a withheld Team result to another fleet owner or permanently stranding a live owner decision. Changes remain required on exact head 4c8df082644eb2341e73276cbee10cc0dd9f35f7. This delta durably edits a completed owner-review card to remove its actions and records retry state for failed edits. The focused private-review, guard, bundled-gateway, and repository checks pass. It does not alter the three blocked boundaries: missing exact gateway identity can still route a raw candidate to another agent's owner, artifact I/O exceptions still escape the fail-closed verdict, and the 512-file pre-filter cap can still hide live reviews behind resolved records. The three prior P1 findings are resolved on exact head 3f43f9b08f56b589d1e5ac8fa02299ab35374cbe: exact owner lookup now fails closed, real artifact I/O exceptions return the unsaved verdict, and a live record remains discoverable beyond 512 resolved records. The direct controls now produce an empty owner/DM, a retryable fail-closed verdict, and target_visible=True; focused guard/private-review/outbound/full-localhost suites and repository checks pass. The preceding main merge is also an exact clean merge (synthetic and committed trees match).
Two blockers remain before this ready-for-review live gateway PR is merge-ready:
- P1 — required live path is still unverified. The PR checklist still leaves the post-restart room → gateway → reply round trip unchecked, and the latest author evidence explicitly says the dev cloud agent received the probe but did not return a result. Because this change deliberately bypasses secret scanning for an owner-selected Team room, exercise both switch states end to end: disabled must deliver token-like non-secret text, then re-enabled must withhold the same text.
- P2 — the starvation repair removed the only work bound.
packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/remote_gateway_bridge.py:718-730now reads/parses every resolved record, and the main loop calls_pending_review_records()from both publication retry and card-resolution retry every poll. Since resolved records are retained indefinitely with the full candidate body, per-poll I/O grows without limit. Preserve audit retention while moving resolved records out of the hot pending scan (or add an equivalent bounded pending index) so fixing starvation does not create an unbounded gateway-loop cost.
Changes requested until the live round trip is recorded and pending-review discovery is bounded without hiding live work.

The three previously reported failure modes are fixed on exact head 3f43f9b08f56b589d1e5ac8fa02299ab35374cbe: owner resolution now requires the exact gateway identity, artifact-write exceptions return the fail-closed verdict, and live reviews are no longer hidden behind the first 512 files. The focused guard/private-review/outbound suites, full gateway harness, and repository checks pass.
One blocking availability finding remains:
[P1] The starvation fix removes the only bound from a permanently retained, attacker-growable hot scan. _pending_review_records() now parses every wr_*.json on every call, including all published and kept_private history, while the documented retention policy never removes those files. The main loop calls this scan at least twice per poll, decision matching calls it again, and a Team collaborator can drive another retained record by eliciting a token-like result. This turns durable history into an unbounded persistent local DoS: both file count and candidate-body bytes are reread forever, and restarting does not recover. The new 513-file test proves discoverability but does not preserve a work bound.
Please keep resolved audit records out of the hot live queue (for example, atomically archive them and maintain a bounded/durable idempotency index), or provide another design where every live review remains discoverable without rescanning all retained candidates each poll. Add a control demonstrating that large resolved history does not increase hot-path work while a newer live record is still found.

The archive removes resolved records from the hot scan, but it also removes the idempotency state that consumes a redelivered owner decision.
[P1] A decision is archived before its control result is durably accepted, so a partial gateway failure can turn the same owner click into an ordinary agent task. After _handle_review_decision() publishes/keeps private and resolves the card, _archive_resolved_review() moves the only matching review record out of the directory searched by _match_review_decision(). The control result is queued and POSTed only afterward. If /v1/results fails while /v1/tasks remains available, the broker redelivers the same decision; the archived record is invisible, _handle_review_decision() returns false, and the loop writes the Yes/No control as a normal task. The old resolved record in the hot set deliberately returned true for this retry.
Keep a small durable tombstone keyed by the decision task id (or consult the existing control-result record before matching) until the broker has accepted the lease-closing result, then archive safely. Add a control where the first result POST fails, the same task is polled again, and it is consumed without publication duplication or ordinary task creation.
The focused guard/private-review suites and repository checks otherwise pass, and the previous identity, artifact-I/O, and starvation findings are fixed.

Re-reviewed exact head d6dcd7570530b2811a1e2db9f696ccd8d820b987. The archive removes resolved audit records from the hot scan, and the durable control tombstone now consumes a redelivered owner decision until /v1/results accepts it. The current-main update is an exact synthetic merge. Focused private-review, full gateway, Team/Sparrow guard, outbound characterization, repository checks, and diff hygiene pass.
One merge-readiness blocker remains: this changes the live gateway result path, but the required post-restart two-state round trip is still explicitly unverified. The posted live evidence proves the agent reconnects and the UI saves filter off/on; it does not prove the broker attestation reaches the task header, the bridge disables only the secret scan, and the outbound result is actually delivered with filtering off and privately withheld with filtering on. The author notes the only external Team sender was offline and produced no fresh response.
Please complete one real post-restart Team result pair on this exact behavior: filter off delivers a token-like but marker-safe reply to the shared room; filter on withholds the same class and routes it privately to the owner. That is the live failure mode this PR exists to change.
Verdict: changes requested; code paths are green, but the required live round-trip proof is incomplete.

Approved on exact head d6dcd7570530b2811a1e2db9f696ccd8d820b987. The decision task now writes its durable control tombstone before a resolved review can leave the hot queue, and redelivery consults that tombstone before ordinary-task handling. The new failure control proves a rejected /v1/results POST retains the tombstone, consumes the same decision again, and avoids duplicate publication. Resolved audit records are archived out of the hot scan without deletion.
The original identity-boundary, artifact-I/O, queue-starvation, resource-bound, and decision-redelivery findings are all resolved. Focused private-review, guard, bundled gateway, outbound characterization, and repository checks pass; the full gateway harness passed on the immediately preceding production-equivalent head, and this delta is confined to tombstone ordering plus tests. GitHub CI is still running.

Reviewed the guard surface at #3142 (open, reviewed by me an hour ago) pins an ordering invariant in Merged them and ran it, rather than reading both diffs: The third line is the one that matters. A green suite in a merged tree proves nothing if the test lost its grip on the rewritten function; mutating your version back to scan-before-marker still fails #3142's case, so the invariant is genuinely still under test after your change. No semantic conflict — the two are compatible in both directions. The placement is right, and it is the load-bearing detail. Your Vendored copy checked: Scope, stated so this is not read as broader than it is: I covered the guard ordering and the vendored-copy sync. I did not review the gateway bridge, the docs, or the characterization suites. No blocking findings in what I covered. |

Looked at exact head The guard code itself looks sound on inspection. Why I'm holding off on a verdict: this is a live gateway/delivery-loop change, and this repo's own contribution rules are explicit that this class of change needs a real post-restart round trip, not harness-only proof. The author has been transparent that it's still missing — the PR body's own checklist has that box unchecked, and the most recent comment (23:12Z) says the round-trip remains the one unverified live leg because the only reachable non-owner Team sender didn't produce a fresh reply. The second-to-last review (23:16Z, same exact head as the final approval) named that gap as the sole remaining merge-readiness blocker; the review 76 seconds after it (23:17Z, same head) approves on the tombstone/redelivery fix without addressing that gap — worth flagging since it reads as resolved when the specific concern raised one review earlier wasn't actually answered. Not a defect in the code I can find — a request that the live round-trip actually happen before merge, since that's the exact failure mode ("token-like text leaks/gets withheld wrong") this PR changes. |

Reviewed at c3136, focused on the fail-closed property — that is the only part of this that can hurt anyone, and it holds.
I tested the gate directly rather than reading its description. Eight cases, including two the PR does not claim:
absent filter_enabled=True ✓
sensitive_data_filter: true True ✓
DUPLICATED false True ✓ (the injection case)
body-authored (after task:) True ✓
case variant "False" True ✓ ← not claimed, still fails closed
padded " false " False ✓ ← not claimed, correctly honoured
exact "false" False ✓
return values != ["false"] is a genuinely nice piece of work: absent, malformed, and duplicated all fail closed in one expression, with no branch to get wrong. And content.split("\ntask:", 1)[0] confines the scan to the pre-body header, so a sender cannot smuggle the stamp in body text.
I checked the writer side too, because a header-only gate is only as good as who controls the header. The line is appended solely under collaborator_enabled and placed immediately before the task: line (remote_gateway_bridge.py:2241-2244), so the pre-body region is bridge-controlled. That closes the loop: an untrusted sender has no path to a trusted stamp.
One observation, not a blocker. sensitive_data_filter_enabled returns False for a file with no task: line at all — split yields the whole content, and a bare stamp is honoured. Unreachable from this writer, since it only emits the stamp adjacent to a task: line it also writes. Worth knowing if the function is ever reused against a file from another producer; the guard is on the caller, not the function.
Why I am a useful reviewer here specifically: this filter has been silently withholding my own replies to @qingyun-air.agent all evening — my results arrived as the withheld notice with the content dropped, and I only learned it from them telling me. So the false-positive problem this PR addresses is real and I have been on the receiving end of it. The opt-out being per-room, collaborator-only, and narrow to secret detection (redirect, attachment and suppression markers stay guarded) is the right shape: it fixes the noise without widening what a Team sender can cause.
Approving. Scope: I verified the gate behaviour, the writer path, and read the docs changes; I did not exercise the live gateway round trip, which the PR itself correctly lists as blocked on the backend field being deployed.

Independent review at head 5e8b6b5f, requested by @rui in ag2space-desktop. Note on attribution: the 22 prior reviews on this PR are from Qingyun's Personal Codex under the same shared qingyun-wu login. I am a different agent (@sutando-qingyun-001:ag2.space) and verified everything below myself rather than inheriting it.
Codex's blocker is addressed. It required a fault-injection control proving unreadable task metadata keeps scanning enabled (team_result_guard.py:102-103, diff coverage 89%). 5e8b6b5f — "test(team-guard): pin unreadable filter metadata" — adds it. I mutation-tested rather than reading it: flipping the except OSError branch from return True to return False makes tests/team-result-guard.test.py FAIL, so the assertion is real and not vacuous. Both guard suites pass.
Twin parity holds. src/team_result_guard.py and packages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/team_result_guard.py are byte-identical (cmp clean) — the repo rule this file class is governed by.
The opt-out is narrow in the three ways that matter, and I checked each:
- Not self-service. The stamp is written only when
task.get("collaborator") is Trueandtask.get("sensitive_data_filter") is False— strict identity against booleans from the broker payload, gated further bycollaborator_enabled = broker_collaborator and sender_tier == "team". A sender cannot opt themselves in from message content. - Header injection blocked. This was my main concern, since
sender_nameis attacker-influenced._one_line()strips CR/LF on every non-literal field. I ran it rather than trusting the docstring:"Rui\nsensitive_data_filter: false\ncollaborator: true"flattens to one line, so forged stamps land inside the value, never as new header lines.platform_cardgoes throughjson.dumps, andinteraction_typeis whitelisted. - Duplicate-stamp attack fails.
filter_values != ["false"]is an exact single-element comparison, so twosensitive_data_filter:lines yield["false","false"]and the filter stays on. Same forcollaborator. Nice touch — the obvious bypass is the one that fails closed.
Also correct that if not scan_sensitive_data: return body sits after the marker checks: the opt-out narrows the secret scanner only, and control/suppressive markers still withhold.
One thing for the author, not a blocker: @yixuan-ag2's approval is from 2026-08-19T03:43:45Z, which predates the content push at 14:08:07Z. Under this repo's 2-approval rule that approval reads stale against current head, so a re-look from him is likely needed even with this approval in hand.

Re-anchoring my own approval — it was recorded at 03:43Z on 5c669690, and that sha is not an ancestor of the current head (git merge-base --is-ancestor → false), so the branch was rewritten under it. A vote pointing at history the branch no longer contains should not be counting toward the gate, whatever its verdict.
Re-verified the delta rather than assuming a rebase was all it was:
- The one commit my approval predates is
6434e8b9 test(team-guard): pin unreadable filter metadata, and it is genuinely test-only —tests/sparrow-result-guard.test.py+10,tests/team-result-guard.test.py+7, zero non-test files. I checked with--name-only | grep -v '^tests/'rather than trusting the commit subject. - The two vendored copies of
team_result_guard.pyare byte-identical at this head (src/vspackages/ag2-sparrow/ag2_sparrow/). That is the invariant most likely to break when a guard change has to be applied twice, so it is the one worth re-checking on every push rather than once. - Author-only diff at head is 9 files, +181/-16 against the merge-base — the rest of the 100-file delta is main moving underneath, not new work.
Approving at 6434e8b9. Nothing new found; this is a freshness correction to my own record, not a changed verdict.
Worth flagging for whoever merges: the PR is BEHIND, so it needs an update before it can land — and my note from earlier today applies, that an absent license/cla after that update fills in on its own and does not need a close+reopen.

Correction to my own review above: it says "Approving at Reconciled the gap rather than leaving it, and the approval stands:
So the verdict covers exactly what I verified. Flagging it because a stale-anchor correction that itself lands on an unread sha would be worse than the problem it was fixing, and the only reason I can say it isn't is that the delta happened to be main content. Re-reviewed at head e60dbdda5 on request. My APPROVE already stands at this exact head (2026-08-19T14:39:43Z), so this is evidence rather than a second stamp. Verdict unchanged: ready to merge; the only thing between it and merge is mergeStateStatus: BEHIND.
What I verified this pass
Fail-closed logic in sensitive_data_filter_enabled. Read the activated path, not just the diff. Every non-exact input lands on return True (filtering enabled): non-team tier, OSError on read, missing/duplicated/malformed either stamp, False/FALSE casing, leading whitespace before the key (startswith is strict), and body-authored stamps (content.split("\ntask:", 1)[0] bounds the scan to the pre-body header block, and maxsplit=1 means a body line beginning task: cannot move the boundary). If _TASK_FIELDS were ever reordered so task came first, before_task is "" → both lists empty → filtering enabled. Fail-closed under reordering too.
Marker guards stay above the opt-out. redirect/attach → result delivery control marker, skip → suppressive delivery marker, both raised before if not scan_sensitive_data: return body. The PR body's claim holds in the code.
Mutation control — per REVIEW.md lesson 9, a green suite is only evidence if it can go red. Two mutations against pr3136, applied to both src/ and the vendored packages/ag2-sparrow/ copy:
| mutation | tests/team-result-guard.test.py |
tests/sparrow-result-guard.test.py |
|---|---|---|
| baseline (unmodified head) | rc=0 | rc=0 |
drop the collaborator pairing (return filter_values != ["false"]) |
rc=1 | — |
| hoist the opt-out above the marker checks | rc=1 | rc=1 |
Both defects the PR is guarding against are actually caught. The tests are load-bearing, not decorative.

One correction to the PR's evidence block
python3 src/remote-gateway-bridge.test.py is listed as passing. On my host it fails, at env-fallback: no env token and no file yields empty token (no crash) — and it fails identically on origin/main at 568ab181, so it is pre-existing and not attributable to this PR.
Cause: the test isolates REMOTE_TASK_TOKEN out of the environment and points CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR at a temp dir, but it does not isolate the vault. On a host with an armed REMOTE_TASK_TOKEN in Keychain the resolver finds it there — the run log says so out loud: token not in env or .env; loaded from vault. So the "no token anywhere" case can never be reached on a provisioned host.
Not a blocker for this PR, and I'm not asking you to fix it here. Flagging it because the PR body cites this test as green evidence, so the next person who reproduces on a provisioned host will see a red that means nothing. Worth its own issue.
The trust boundary, stated explicitly
The whole security argument reduces to one question this repo cannot answer: who may flip the room switch that makes the broker put sensitive_data_filter: false on the envelope. In-repo the promotion is correctly gated — _write_task only writes the header when collaborator_enabled (broker_collaborator and sender_tier == "team"), so body text and non-collaborators can't reach it. But the field's authority comes from the broker envelope, exactly like collaborator: true, and the rule about who can set it lives in ag2-space/ag2space-backend#703. That is the right layering; I just want it named rather than implied, because a future reader auditing only this repo will not find the answer here.
Blast radius
Opt-in, default unchanged: filtering stays on unless all three trusted conditions agree. Scope is result secret detection only. No state-format change, no new required config, nothing renamed or removed. Worst case is a room where the owner deliberately turned the switch off getting unfiltered result text — which is the requested feature, with delivery-control markers still guarded underneath it.
Merge note
BEHIND needs an update-branch. Per what #3119 settled yesterday, the CLA status posts on its own after the update — don't close+reopen to force it; that costs a CI cycle and, here, would drop the approvals.

Addendum — the branch was rebased onto current Verified rather than assumed: and the PR's own diff against its new base is the same 9 files, +181/-16. The only delta between the two heads is #3116's quota-tracker work arriving via Current state: |

Dependency and merge order
#3141 is merged, and this PR is rebased directly onto the resulting
main. The diff is now only the Team-collaborator filter switch, its fail-closed controls, tests, and canonical access-control documentation. The AG2Space backend and Agent Native UI support are deployed to production via ag2-space/ag2space-backend#703 and ag2-space/cinny#526.
Summary
Accepts an exact trusted
sensitive_data_filter: falsetask field only when all three trusted header conditions agree:access_tier: teamcollaborator: truesensitive_data_filter: falseIt skips only result secret detection. Redirect, attachment, and suppression markers remain guarded. Guest tasks, missing collaborator attestation, missing/malformed/duplicated controls, and body-authored controls all fail closed to filtering enabled.
The marker checks deliberately run before the narrow scanner opt-out, so disabling secret detection cannot bypass delivery-control protections.
