Backport of #4882 to
release/2.15.Depends on the #4839 backport (#4910). This change updates the ExecuTorch guide that #4839 adds, so it is built on top of that backport. Until that one merges, this branch also carries the #4839 commit. Please review only the last commit.
In 2.15 today,
pip install "torch-tensorrt[executorch]"installs ExecuTorch, which is enough to export a.ptebut not to run one. Running it needstorch-tensorrt-executorch-runtime, and the extra does not say which build. With this change, the extra requires exactly the companion built in the same job.For the release this means the companion has to be published next to
torch_tensorrton the test channel, the stable index and PyPI. Otherwise pip silently picks an oldertorch_tensorrtinstead of failing.This is a clean
git cherry-pick -xof the merge commit on top of the #4839 backport, with no conflicts. The patch is identical to #4882.Validation:
uv lockhook, which cannot resolve the CUDA-only torch wheel on macOS and fails the same way onrelease/2.15release/2.15, with the same 27 skipped
