Howdy! I'm Pablo Salazar-Méndez

I'm a third year Genomic Sciences undergrad at the National Autonomus University of Mexico's (UNAM) Center for Genomic Sciences. I have a keen interest in bioinformatics, computational biology and probabilistic modelling.


Research

Systems biology

  • Network dissimilarity algorithms to compare through topological properties complex systems represented as graphs.
  • MCMC algorithms to explore the parameters space of a given genetic model seeking to find the most likely set of parameters that better explains the data.
  • Organizational landscape of complex system networks ranging from biological (i.e. regulatory, metabolic, genetic communities) to social (i.e. social media, political contact) with the aim of discovering structural or topological proporties particular to each domain.

Outside the lab

I really enjoy to read scifi, fantasy and realism books 📚​, as well as watching anime ​💻​🈵​ (AoT, Pyscho Pass and Lord of Mysteries big fan!). My favorite films are Blade Runner 2049, Arrival and Sueño en Otro Idioma 😁✌️.

Doing sport is a key part of my day, recently I've been doing Kung Fu 🥋 as a hobby along side the gym 💪👀.
