refactor(plugin): Split client files by functionality #85

Description

Summary

The client files within our plugins are becoming overly large and difficult to maintain. This issue proposes a refactoring effort to split these monolithic files into smaller, more manageable modules grouped by functionality.

Problem

As new features are added, the client-side logic for plugins is often consolidated into a single, large file. This practice leads to several issues:

  • Poor Readability: Large files are difficult to navigate, making it hard for developers to find specific pieces of logic.
  • Maintenance Overhead: Modifying one part of the file can have unintended consequences on other, unrelated functionalities.
  • Increased Merge Conflicts: Multiple developers working on different features within the same file are more likely to encounter merge conflicts.
  • Reduced Modularity: Tightly coupled code within a single file makes it harder to reuse or test individual components.

Proposed Solution

We should conduct a thorough analysis of the existing plugin client files to identify logical seams where they can be split. The goal is to break down these large files into smaller modules, each responsible for a specific domain or feature set.

Action Plan:

  1. Identify Candidate Files: Review the current plugin clients and identify the largest and most complex ones.
  2. Define Grouping Strategy: For each candidate file, determine a clear strategy for grouping related functions and logic (e.g., group by API resource, UI component, or feature).
  3. Refactor and Split: Create new files for each identified group and move the relevant code into them.
  4. Update Imports: Update all references and import statements throughout the codebase to point to the new, smaller modules.
  5. Verify Functionality: Ensure that the application continues to function as expected and that all related tests pass after the refactoring.

This refactoring will improve code organization, making the plugin clients easier to understand, maintain, and extend in the future.
