feat(gui): show distinct first-response states on the provider overview - #7939
When a provider was saved in the dashboard, the provider overview immediately displayed Status: ✓ Connected without distinguishing whether models were discovered and enabled, whether a client was configured to use the provider, or whether an actual completion probe had succeeded. Closing the post-add Choose models dialog also left the workspace unselected instead of opening the newly added provider, and the detail header hid the raw provider config ID when its display label differed (for example local-demo rendered only as Local Demo).
This change connects the provider-to-first-response flow and surfaces each stage as a distinct state:
Status & Provider state: ProviderOverview aligns its Status row with ProviderRail (Ready, Needs attention, Needs setup, or Disabled, accounting for live OAuth login and re-authentication state) rather than claiming Connected before any probe runs, and shows the provider configuration state (saved, needs-setup, needs-login, needs-attention, or disabled).
Models state: joins per-provider /api/providers discovery status into ProviderWorkspaceShell's revision-bound model snapshot so the overview distinguishes loading, failed (both endpoint failure and upstream discovery failure, with retry), pending initial selection, ready (with enabled model count), ready-discovery-failed (retained models enabled while live discovery failed), all-off, configured, and empty, with a direct action to open model selection.
Client routing state: explains that applying a client in Connect and selecting <provider>/<model> is separate from saving the provider and takes effect on new sessions, with an Open Connect action.
First-response probe state: tracks the bounded model completion probe (untested, testing, ok, failed, not-applicable) under a render-time epoch keyed to the provider's connection identity and model list so credential, endpoint, provider, or model changes permanently invalidate prior probe results.
Selection, focus & ID disambiguation: adding a provider selects it in the workspace when no provider is currently open (preserving any open provider's dirty Settings tab), restores or falls back focus to a visible control when ProviderModelsNotice closes after AddProviderModal unmounts, and renders <code class="pws-detail-id"> next to the formatted display name when they differ.
Verification
New gui/tests/provider-first-response-guidance.test.tsx (10 tests, 61 assertions): failed on origin/dev before the fix (all 7 initial test cases failed), passes after (10 pass, 0 fail). Covers all four progression steps, OAuth login/reauth status alignment, model precedence including revision-bound /api/providers discovery freshness, completion probe transitions and A -> B -> A / model-removal invalidation, raw ID header disambiguation, focus fallback past unmounted/CSS-hidden nodes, and provider selection on add while preserving dirty Settings.
cd gui && bun test tests: 3619 pass, 0 fail across 361 files.
cd gui && bun run lint, bun run lint:i18n, bun run build: pass (all 11 locale dictionaries updated).
bun test tests/gui/ tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/test-layout-tooling.test.ts: 683 pass, 0 fail.
bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan: pass.
bun run test (full root suite): not run in full on this commit — resource exception (GUI-only change outside the root import graph; covered locally by the full 3619-test GUI suite and tests/gui/, and in CI by ci:full shards 1–4/4 on the exact head).

Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults. (GUI state display and navigation only; completion probe confirmation dialog and backend endpoints unchanged.)
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Provider setup now shows progress across provider status, model discovery and selection, client routing, and first-response checks, with actions to retry discovery or open setup sections.
Completion checks report their status and update when the selected model or connection changes. Canceling a check leaves its current status and results unchanged.
Newly added providers are selected when no provider is already selected.
Bug Fixes
Focus returns to a usable page element if the previously focused element is no longer available.
Documentation
First-response guidance is available in supported languages.
Distinguish provider configuration saved, model discovery and selection readiness, client routing application in Connect, and completion probe verification on the provider overview instead of labeling every configured provider Connected. Select newly added providers in the workspace when none is open, show the raw provider config ID next to the display name when they differ, and join per-provider discovery status into the revision-bound model snapshot.

Walkthrough
The provider workspace now loads discovery summaries with model data and displays first-response setup states for providers, models, clients, and completion probes. It adds completion-test status reporting, navigation actions, focus fallback for the models notice, and translations across supported locales.

Load discovery into model snapshots gui/src/provider-workspace/catalog.ts, gui/src/pages/providers-shared.ts, gui/src/provider-workspace/model-inventory.ts, gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderWorkspaceShell.tsx, gui/src/pages/Providers.tsx, gui/tests/provider-first-response-guidance.test.tsx
Provider configuration and workspace types now include discovery summaries. The shell can fetch and parse /api/providers into its model snapshot. The Providers page enables discovery loading and updates provider selection in add-provider flows. Tests cover discovery loading, failures, retry, and provider selection.
Derive and display setup states gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderOverview.tsx, gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderDetails.tsx, gui/src/pages/Providers.tsx, gui/src/components/provider-workspace/provider-completion-test.css, gui/src/i18n/*.ts, gui/tests/provider-first-response-guidance.test.tsx
ProviderOverview derives setup states and displays first-response guidance with retry and navigation actions. ProviderDetails passes model and navigation state and displays the provider identifier when it differs from the display name. Styles and locale catalogs add the corresponding presentation and translations.
Track completion-probe status gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderCompletionTest.tsx, gui/src/components/provider-workspace/ProviderOverview.tsx, gui/tests/provider-first-response-guidance.test.tsx
Completion tests report status for selection, cancellation, testing, and results. Stale, aborted, or post-unmount requests do not update current state. ProviderOverview invalidates probe results when the connection identity or applicable model set changes.
Restore focus when closing the models notice gui/src/components/ProviderModelsNotice.tsx, gui/tests/provider-first-response-guidance.test.tsx
Focus restoration rejects disconnected, disabled, or hidden targets. If the previous target is unusable, cleanup searches configured page regions for a usable focus target.
