Summary

Cursor Claude Fast usage estimates now follow Cursor's published Fast rates for Opus 4.8, Opus 5 and Opus 5.5.

  • Explicit supported -fast IDs receive Fast tuples with direct Cursor provenance and verified status.
  • Base-model Cursor Fast selections use the persisted cursor-variant tier outcome and a provider-scoped 2x rule.
  • Unsupported Fast effort spellings fail closed, Opus 4.7 remains excluded, and configured user prices retain precedence.
  • The usage contract and regression plan are recorded in devlog/_plan/260924_cursor_fast_pricing/.

Verification

  • bun test tests/usage/usage-cost.test.ts tests/usage/usage-cursor-fast-pricing.test.ts tests/test-layout.test.ts tests/test-layout-tooling.test.ts — 123 pass, 0 fail.
  • bun run typecheck — passed.
  • bun run structure:check — passed.
  • bun run privacy:scan — passed.
  • git diff --check — passed.
  • gpt-6-sol review findings were folded: direct Cursor Fast provenance is asserted, and unsupported Fast ladders are rejected.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Cursor Fast pricing is now reflected for supported Claude Opus 4.8, 5, and 5.5 models. Explicit Fast model IDs and recognized Fast tier outcomes apply the published 2× rates.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Standard model rates remain unchanged, and configured prices continue to take precedence over catalog pricing. Unsupported Fast variants do not receive a Fast price.
  • Documentation
    • Added pricing guidance, including that Opus 4.7 Fast is unavailable and remains standard-priced.

Cursor Claude Fast pricing applies the published Fast tuples to Opus 4.8, Opus 5 and Opus 5.5.
Explicit `-fast` model IDs use the Fast tuple directly; a Cursor variant tier outcome applies
the same 2x multiplier to a base model estimate. Opus 4.7 remains standard-priced because its
upstream Fast mode is unavailable. Configured model prices retain precedence over compiled rows.

P1 Badge Document Cursor Fast pricing in the public guide

This changes user-visible cost estimates for Cursor Claude Fast requests, but only the internal structure document was updated. The existing Cursor Fast section in docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/configuration/providers.md explains variant routing without mentioning the new 2× rates, explicit-ID handling, or user-price precedence, so operators cannot determine how displayed costs are calculated; update that public section alongside this contract.

…e-jun#5730

Dev's 3a301dc already prices Cursor Claude Fast variants via a 2x
PRIORITY_PRICING_RULES multiplier across Opus 4.8/5/5.5 on the live flat
effort IDs. This branch's -fast overlay row would double-multiply against
that path, so the merge resolves to dev's version.
