Summary

When a provider preset (such as opencode-go) is saved under a custom alias (for example OG or my-go) pointing to its official endpoint (https://opencode.ai/zen/go/v1), models declared in modelWireDefaults (including muse-spark-1.3-contributor, muse-spark-1.2-contributor, gpt-5.6-luna, grok-4.6, grok-4.7) failed to switch to the openai-responses wire. Instead, they silently stayed on the provider-wide adapter: openai-chat and hit /chat/completions, where upstream returns HTTP 503 (Endpoint is unavailable.) because upstream only serves these models via /responses.

Both captureRouteStaticPolicy in src/router.ts and providerModelWireDefault in src/providers/registry.ts strictly matched PROVIDER_REGISTRY by provider dictionary key name. For an alias provider, the key is "OG", returning undefined and preventing modelWireDefaults, upstream streaming hints, and terminal repair from taking effect.

This change:

  1. In src/router.ts (captureRouteStaticPolicy), falls back to registryEntryForProviderDestination(provider) when direct registry lookup by provider name yields no entry.
  2. In src/providers/registry.ts, introduces resolveTargetRegistryEntry(id, provider) so providerModelWireDefault, providerModelResponsesUpstreamStreaming, and providerModelResponsesTerminalRepair fall back to registryEntryForProviderDestination(provider) when the endpoint matches a fixed-key registry destination.
  3. Preserves isolation for custom gateways with non-matching endpoints (e.g. https://gateway.example.test/v1), ensuring they remain name-pinned and never inherit official presets.
  4. Adds regression tests in tests/providers/opencode-go-luna-wire.test.ts.

Verification

  • bun test tests/providers/opencode-go-luna-wire.test.ts (28 pass, 0 fail)
  • bun test tests/server/adapter-resolve.test.ts (20 pass, 0 fail)
  • bun test tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts (9 pass, 0 fail; src/providers/registry.ts remains strictly at 232 lines cap)
  • bun run typecheck (passed with 0 errors)
  • Live proxy test on http://127.0.0.1:10100/v1/responses with model OG/muse-spark-1.3-contributor successfully routed to upstream /responses via openai-responses and returned HTTP 200 OK.

Checklist

codex implementer, tester Implement transport destination fallback for modelWireDefaults and regression tests unverified gemini-3.8-flash commit b57ff5a

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Custom provider aliases that share OpenCode Go’s destination now receive the appropriate Responses adapter defaults across supported inbound formats.
    • Providers using unrelated endpoints retain their configured adapter instead of inheriting OpenCode Go’s defaults.
    • Improved handling of invalid or non-positive terminal-repair timing values.

Review readiness checklist

This PR stays in draft until every box below is ticked. Tick all four boxes once the requirements are met:

  • Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.

  • I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).

  • I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.

  • My PR is ready for review.

…wire defaults

- Allow custom provider aliases (e.g. OG) to inherit registry modelWireDefaults, upstream streaming, and terminal repair policies when their endpoint matches a fixed-key registry destination (opencode-go)
- Capture destination fallback in router captureRouteStaticPolicy so staticPolicy.model.adapter respects transport defaults
- Retain name pinning for custom gateways with non-matching endpoints
- Add regression tests in opencode-go-luna-wire.test.ts

Registry policy and route resolution now fall back to matching providers by transport destination when the named registry entry does not match. Tests cover inherited OpenCode Go transport and an unrelated custom endpoint.

Changes

Provider destination resolution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Registry policy resolution
src/providers/registry.ts
resolveTargetRegistryEntry checks the named entry against the provider transport, then falls back to destination matching. Wire-default, upstream-streaming, and terminal-repair policy resolvers use it. Terminal-repair grace periods are floored and must be finite and positive. Account-mode ordering and Google-mode expression changes preserve the described behavior.
Route fallback and transport tests
src/router.ts, tests/providers/opencode-go-luna-wire.test.ts
captureRouteStaticPolicy falls back to destination matching when the named entry has a different transport. Tests check that the OG alias inherits OpenCode Go Responses wire defaults across inbound surfaces, while an unrelated custom endpoint retains openai-chat.

Aliases using another registry destination can miss its wire defaults and route policy, while a custom Cline route can receive the wrong model metadata. Resolve both paths before merging.

그 동작은 tests/providers/opencode-go-luna-wire.test.ts에 이미 고정돼 있습니다.

Resolve named transport mismatches with the static-catalog-filtered destination lookup.

When a named entry exists but its transport does not match, resolveTargetRegistryEntry returns undefined instead of checking the configured destination. Keep the destination fallback in src/providers/registry.ts.

In src/router.ts, pass registryEntrySupportsLiveModelDiscovery to the destination lookup. An unfiltered lookup can select cline-pass before cline for their shared endpoint and apply static-catalog metadata to a noncanonical named provider. The existing !!registryEntry already derives transportMatchedRegistry from the resolved entry.

Filter the unknown-name destination lookup to live-discovery entries.

When an unknown provider name uses Cline’s destination, registryEntryForProviderDestination finds cline-pass before cline. The route then applies ClinePass metadata, including liveModels: false, to the live provider.

Pass registryEntrySupportsLiveModelDiscovery to this fallback. Apply the filter in eligible so both current-destination and alias searches skip ClinePass. Leave the named-mismatch branch unchanged.

Maintainer triage: priority: P2 — small fix: registry wire-default fallback.

Criteria (P2): Medium: provider/client-specific bug with a workaround, bounded enhancement tied to a tracked issue, perf, or CI reliability.

Rebased onto current dev: branch rebase/pr-5697 @ 095aa8fb3 (compare). Your fork branch could not be updated directly; you can adopt it with git fetch https://github.com/lidge-jun/opencodex.git rebase/pr-5697 && git reset --hard FETCH_HEAD && git push --force-with-lease. CI was intentionally not run.

…ort mismatch

A known registry id configured against another fixed destination now resolves that destination's wire policy; the router destination lookup only considers live-discovery rows so a shared Cline endpoint keeps liveModels. Adds OG alias route, adapter-resolve, and named-mismatch regressions; an alias at the exact canonical OpenCode Go endpoint takes that preset's policy, pinned in the route test.
