Summary

  • Use one API-reference cost policy for Codex-login and API-key OpenAI routes. Remove subscription credit multipliers and exemptions from display estimates.
  • Keep API base/cache prices and model-specific Fast factors; apply the published Astra/GPT-5.6/Daybreak Blue long-context bands and Fast composition consistently. User price overrides and other provider policies are preserved.
  • Update current documentation and regression tests. Model configuration, credentials, runtime services, and releases are unchanged.

Verification

  • Focused usage/FastWire tests: 119 pass, 0 fail; new policy cases observed red then green.
  • bun run typecheck, bun run privacy:scan, git diff --check: passed.
  • Documentation frozen install/build: passed, 425 pages.
  • Direct estimator smoke: native/API both 3.25 Standard / 6.50 Fast for the cache-heavy 300k fixture.
  • Full bun run test passed (exit 0) on macmini-cf at 18fa433c041d59148a83c11af6be10abe742015e, Bun 1.4.0 / Node 22.22.0: 17,999 pass, 14 skip, 0 fail. No workstation-wide suite was run. Current-head CI must pass before merge.
  • Maintainer review addressed: native comparison estimates retain verified-derived and estimated: true; API-key rates remain verified. Numeric API rates and policy are identical. The implementation record no longer implies unfinished verification or landing is complete.
  • Maintainer explicitly requested API-only estimates, git push --no-verify, and merge. As authorized in this task, admin bypass will be used only after CI passes; no self-approval is claimed.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults. No security boundary, dependencies or workflow permissions changed.

Review Change Stack

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change standardizes built-in OpenAI estimates on API-reference pricing. It sets priority pricing to 2×, enables priority and long-context stacking, updates pricing tables and documentation, and revises usage and FastWire tests.

Changes

API pricing baseline

Layer / File(s) Summary
API pricing and context rules
src/usage/expected-prices.ts
OpenAI overlays use verified API prices. Priority rules use 2× pricing. OpenAI context tiers include Astra and use stacked long-context pricing with updated verification metadata.
Pricing behavior validation
tests/usage/usage-cost.test.ts, tests/routing/fastwire-observability.test.ts
Tests cover native, API, and account-label routes, 2× priority pricing, route consistency, revised totals, and priority stacking with long-context pricing.
Pricing policy documentation
docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/configuration/providers.md, structure/03_catalog-and-subagents.md, devlog/_fin/260905_api_estimate_baseline/010_patch.md
Documentation describes API-reference pricing for built-in estimates, shared OpenAI pricing, override precedence, and verification results.

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 18fa4

This updates OpenAI display estimates to API-reference pricing, but several pricing records claim verification on a future date. Correct the timestamps to preserve accurate pricing provenance before release.

@coderabbitai review

Please review this focused display-estimate policy change while full-suite verification is running. The maintainer explicitly chose API-reference estimates for both Codex-login and API-key routes; subscription billing parity is intentionally out of scope. Verification dates use Asia/Seoul (UTC+09:00), currently 2026-09-05 locally, not future verification.

The maintainer-selected numeric policy is coherent: Codex-login and API-key rows may use the same API-reference tuple, long-context band, and 2x Fast factor for comparison. The current provenance change is not safe, however.

EXPECTED_PRICE_OVERLAYS and VERIFIED_PRICE_OVERRIDES now mark the openai Codex-login rows as verified, and the tests explicitly change estimated from true to false. The cited official pages verify API pricing, not billing on the ChatGPT subscription route. Using those numbers as a display baseline does not make them a verified price for that provider surface. This removes the user-visible estimate marker while the docs simultaneously say the values are comparison estimates and not invoices.

Please keep the shared numeric rates and policy, but retain verified-derived for provider: "openai" and account-label-normalized native routes, with a source that says API-reference comparison estimate. Keep openai-apikey as verified. Add assertions that native and API costs are numerically equal while native remains estimated: true and API remains estimated: false.

Also change the implementation record line saying full-suite, CI, and landing evidence are recorded. Current-head CI and landing were still pending when the committed record was written; record only completed evidence or mark those phases pending.

Addressed the maintainer review: native Astra/Sol and normalized account-label routes retain verified-derived with an API-reference comparison source and estimated=true; API-key remains verified/estimated=false. Numeric rates, 2x API Fast, cache-write rates and long-context composition remain shared. The devlog now directs readers to the PR status without claiming unfinished CI/landing completion. Focused tests/typecheck/privacy pass; rerunning full suite and exact-head CI before merge.

예: native Fast가 2.5배, native Astra는 long-context(>272k) 밴드가 없고 Fast와 long이 exclusive로 나뉜다. API 키 경로(openai-apikey)만 API 2배·long stack을 쓴다.

패치가 하는 일은 단순하다. src/usage/expected-prices.ts에서 CODEX_PRICING / CODEX_SPEED / CODEX_FAST_CREDIT_MODELS 구독 오버레이를 지우고, Astra·Sol·Daybreak Blue의 숫자(base/cache)·Fast 배수·>272k 밴드를 openai와 openai-apikey에 같이 건다. Fast+long은 둘 다 stack이다. native 행은 여전히 verified-derived + estimated: true이고, API-key 행은 verified다.

테스트 쪽도 정책에 맞춰 다시 썼다. tests/usage/usage-cost.test.ts는 native/API 동일 비용, 라우트 identity 불변, request/attempt/combo 패리티, Fast+long 합성, response-default 우선을 고정한다. tests/routing/fastwire-observability.test.ts는 native Sol 합성가를 2.5×→2×(4.0→3.2 등)로만 고치고 attempt provenance는 유지한다. docs providers.md와 structure/03_catalog-and-subagents.md에서 구독 2.5×·native long 면제 설명을 지우고 "한 API 기준"으로 고쳤다. 구현 기록은 devlog/_fin/260905_api_estimate_baseline/010_patch.md에 있다.

검증 주장: focused 119 pass, typecheck/privacy/docs, macmini-cf full suite 17999 pass.

라인 tests/usage/usage-cost.test.ts P2 (gpt-5.5) - 테스트 이름·기대값이 여전히 2.5×다.
경로 src/usage/expected-prices.ts / PRIORITY_MULTIPLIERS - Astra/Sol/Luna/Terra/Daybreak Blue는 2로 통일됐고 gpt-5.5만 2.5로 남아 있다.

Final pre-merge evidence: exact head 18fa433 has 24 passing checks and 2 intentional conditional skips, including aggregate ci. Full remote suite: 17,999 pass, 14 skip, 0 fail, exit 0. Focused119/0, typecheck/privacy/docs pass. The maintainer findings are implemented in 18fa433: derived native provenance retained without changing the API-reference numeric policy; implementation-record wording corrected. Re-review was requested; the older CHANGES_REQUESTED state has not yet been replaced by a new review. Using the owner-authorized admin squash bypass after verifying these fixes and exact-head green CI; no maintainer re-approval or self-approval is claimed.
