[untyped-import] recommends installing questionable and non-existent packages #1950

Description

@rchen152

Describe the Bug

I found three cases in which untyped-import makes a bad recommendation for a stubs package to install:

  • For the requests library, which has stubs in typeshed/stubs, we recommend installing requests-stubs, which does not exist. The name of the stubs package should be types-requests.
  • For the sklearn library, which has stubs in microsoft/python-type-stubs, we recommend installing sklearn-stubs, which does not exist. According to the README, the Microsoft stubs are not published on PyPI.
  • For the matplotlib library, we recommend installing matplotlib-stubs, an unofficial stubs package, even though matplotlib is py.typed and ships with its own official stubs.
