Closed

Description

@manuq

When projectiles disappear in games there is usually a clue. Visually: the asset could start blinking. We should add the same.

    Planning sheet for this issue: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w38R68yiIp-KqdV1nD71Aqwp-a25HfqR2ZnA47DeEbI/edit?usp=sharing

    I propose adding an AnimationPlayerNode to the scene of the projectile. In this node there will be an animation "dissapear" modifying the property track "modulate" in order to simulate a blinking animation for the projectile. This animation will be looped because the dissapearing of the projectile is controlled by its script.
    In adittion I propose modifying the projectile.gd script, as seen in the images, adding 4 new attributes, the animation player, time_passed, time_to_dissapear and is_dissapearing. Also there are going to be added some lines of code in the following functions: _ready(), _process() and _on_body_entered().
    The behavior of the code is explained in the following images.

    @Salonso928 excellent, please send a pull request and we can continue from there. Is hard to discuss code with images.

    Hi @manuq I created the pull request is here #2801

    Thanks! The best way to link a pull request with an issue is by adding "Fixes #2442" as last line in the PR description. Please read https://github.com/endlessm/threadbare/wiki/Contributing#pull-request-descriptions

  9. added this to the UTP CGM 4.0 milestone on Sep 3, 2026

    @Salonso928 thanks so much! This is merged now. You did all the work in #2801, I only amended it in #2948 in order to merge it.
