Just an additional note: that project has tons of sources, maybe that increases the chances of OOM error.
Since we don't distribute that, we could also skip its source generation.

The only thing I could think of would be the upgrade of plexus-archiver
but this actually should reduce heap usage!

Yes please try to upgrade plexus-archiver and share feedback. Releasing plugins would take more time

@slachiewicz Tycho should use 4.10.2 already, so I fear it might getting "worse" in this case than better as it seem to have worked before.

@cdietrich can you create an issue in plexus-archiver and describe the problem + (textual) data of the trace where objects are retained? then one might assign to copilote for another analysis.

VT + ThreadLocals do not play well: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78889090/alternative-of-threadlocal-for-virtual-threads
Beside that I really doubt that VT make things faster in I/O bound scenario likes creating an archive...
