The markdown↔ProseMirror codec had no round-trip fixpoint for strong/em+link marks: **[text](url)** and [**text**](url) converted into each other on every save. The parse direction appends marks outermost-first (wrapper arms push as they nest, convert_node), while the save direction (create_marked_text/build_mark_chain) treated the marks array as innermost-first.
Fix (pkgs/id/src/web/markdown.rs only)
One canonical mark nesting order, outermost first — link > strong > em > strikethrough > code (mark_nesting_rank) — applied by both directions:
Parse: text_node_with_marks emits marks sorted into canonical order, so every spelling of the same marked text parses to the identical ProseMirror doc.
Save: create_marked_text sorts incoming marks (any array order, e.g. editor-produced) into canonical order before wrapping, so the same doc always saves to the same markdown: [**text**](url).
Tests
New two-round-trip fixpoint tests in web::markdown: strong+link (both spellings + PM-doc convergence), em+link, strong+link with title (href/title survive), strikethrough+link, and the ***both*** bold-italic control. Local run status is reported on #944 by the queue worker; CI is the verifier of record for the full suite.
Queue task 1091 (repo-health-code-pilot).

Bug Fixes
Markdown formatting now stays consistent when bold, italic, strikethrough, and links are combined, regardless of mark order. Link titles and repeated saves are also handled consistently.
…ink round-trip fixpoint (#944)
Parse direction appended marks outermost-first while save treated the
marks array as innermost-first, so **[text](url)** and [**text**](url)
converted into each other on every save. Both directions now sort marks
by a shared canonical nesting order (link > strong > em > strikethrough
> code): text_node_with_marks emits sorted marks so every spelling
parses to the same ProseMirror doc, and create_marked_text sorts
incoming marks before wrapping so the same doc always saves to the
same markdown ([**text**](url)).
New two-round-trip fixpoint tests for strong+link (both spellings,
PM-doc convergence), em+link, strong+link with title, strikethrough+
link, and the bold-italic control.

Walkthrough
The Markdown-to-ProseMirror and ProseMirror-to-Markdown conversions now use a canonical mark order. Tests check that strong, emphasis, and strikethrough links retain stable Markdown output across repeated saves.

Summary
Canonical mark ordering and round-trip tests pkgs/id/src/web/markdown.rs
The codec ranks marks and applies that order when serializing and constructing marked text. Tests cover link spellings, link titles, and stable repeated saves.
The canonical-order change has no established merge-blocking regression. Additional titled-link coverage is optional; the existing inline-code link-loss defect warrants a separate fix.

Explanation
The title names the main change: canonical mark nesting for strong/em combined with links, aimed at a round-trip fixpoint. It matches the raw summary (canonical mark order for link, strong, emphasis, strikethrough, code) and the linked objectives (issue #944). The title is specific and concise. The '(#944)' reference is a linked issue number, which is acceptable. The title is not vague.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #944 requires stable strong+link and em+link round trips, preserved link attributes, and two-round-trip tests. The diff adds shared mark_nesting_rank ordering for parse and save, sorts parsed and incoming marks, reverses wrappers for the existing chain builder, and adds tests for both spellings, PM document convergence, titles, and repeated saves. The implementation is limited to pkgs/id/src/web/markdown.rs.

Explanation
The pull request changes only the markdown↔ProseMirror codec and its tests. The strikethrough-link case and bold-italic control test exercise the same canonical mark-order behavior. No unrelated product area or unrelated file change is shown.

Cover the titled strong-outermost spelling in the title round-trip test.
test_strong_link_with_title_roundtrip_fixpoint runs only [**text**](https://example.com "Title"). It does not run **[text](https://example.com "Title")**. That is the only titled input in these tests that starts with the strong mark. The no-title strong-link test already runs both spellings in a loop. Extending the titled test the same way checks title preservation and the fixpoint for both spellings.

Major · Data Integrity & Integration · Quick win
Keep the link when inline code sits inside a link.
create_marked_text returns a bare Code node as soon as it finds a code mark. That early return skips the wrapper loop, so a link mark on the same text node is dropped. For [`x`](https://example.com), the parser stores both marks on one text node. The first save writes `x` without the link destination, and the saved Markdown cannot restore it.
This loss predates this PR. The early return is outside every changed hunk. The new canonical sort runs after the return, so it does not affect this input.
🐛 Suggested fix
- // Check if code mark is present - it takes precedence and replaces the text node- for mark in marks {- if mark["type"].as_str() == Some("code") {- return arena.alloc(AstNode::from(NodeValue::Code(comrak::nodes::NodeCode {- num_backticks: 1,- literal: text.to_owned(),- })));- }- }+ // A code mark is the innermost node. Other marks still wrap it.+ let has_code = marks.iter().any(|mark| mark["type"].as_str() == Some("code"));
- // Start with text node- let text_node = arena.alloc(AstNode::from(NodeValue::Text(text.to_owned().into())));+ // Start with the code leaf when present, otherwise the text leaf.+ let text_node = if has_code {+ arena.alloc(AstNode::from(NodeValue::Code(comrak::nodes::NodeCode {+ num_backticks: 1,+ literal: text.to_owned(),+ })))+ } else {+ arena.alloc(AstNode::from(NodeValue::Text(text.to_owned().into())))+ };
With this change, [`x`](https://example.com) keeps the link on both saves. Code marks combined with strong, em, or strikethrough also keep those wrappers. Add a round-trip test for [`x`](https://example.com) that asserts the link survives both saves. The PR's tests do not cover code inside a link. The current early return drops the link, so that assertion fails.
