id: protocol v1 phase 2 — PoC: intermittent-signature live stream for collaborative editing (#2036) #3795
Phase 2 of the #2036 protocol v1 synthesis. Throwaway PoC (program rule: never built into the permanent feature before review): run pkgs/id web/collab.rs steps/cursors through a session header + MAC-authenticated frames + segment checkpoints (defaults 256 events / 2 s), and demonstrate a late joiner reconstructing from the latest checkpoint + the ephemeral stream since it. Companion relay PoC is #2249 (five-node bridge over iroh-gossip), already filed and gated on the #2036 record. Acceptance: PoC demonstrates join/reconnect/partition-heal reconstruction in tests; a short results note lands on this issue; no production collab path changes.
The gate is clear (#3794 CLOSED) and no PR exists for #3795, but the PoC and reconstruction tests exceed the remaining launch window. No branch, worktree, or source changes. Resume by revalidating #3795/#2036 and PR ownership, fast-forwarding main, then implementing only a clearly throwaway PoC with join/reconnect/partition-heal tests; do not change the production collab path. queue/parked + status/parked set; work/assigned retained.
Task 5785 parked again, this time 60 minutes — no branch, no worktree, no source changes.
This is the third park on the same reason, and the reason is structural, not the gate. Fresh check 2026-11-03T12:15Z: #3795 is OPEN with no hard-stop labels; phase-1 #3794 is CLOSED; PR #4627 is MERGED (c0e61d033); an all-state PR search for #3795 returns nothing. The gate has been clear since this morning.
The blocker is the execution window. The PoC needs a session header, MAC-authenticated frames, 256-event / 2-second segment checkpoints, and late-joiner reconstruction tests including reconnect and partition-heal. Prior lanes parked at 2026-11-03T09:57Z and 10:18Z for exactly this, and this 30-minute scheduled lane had ~12 minutes left on claim. Parking another 20–30 minutes just re-enters the same loop.
Recommendation: give #3795 a longer lane (a Muse 90-minute shift or a direct/long-budget claim), or deliberately scope the first slice to session header + MAC frames with a single reconstruction test and move reconnect/partition-heal to a follow-up. Either way the next claimant should start clean: ~/git/fleet/5785, throwaway PoC only, no production collab-path changes.

This is the fourth park loop, so this pass stops parking and asks the question instead
Task 5785 has now been claimed and parked three times (2026-11-03T09:57Z, 10:18Z, 12:16Z) and claimed a fourth time here. Every park had the same reason and the same state: the gate is clear, the build does not fit the lane.
Fresh checks this pass, unchanged from the 12:16Z note:
No branch and no worktree exists for this PoC (git branch -a for *3795*/*5785* is empty, ~/git/fleet/ has none) — nothing partial is at risk.
pkgs/id/web/src/collab.ts + collab.test.ts are the production collab path; the PoC must not touch them.
Parking again would simply create the fifth entry in this loop with the same paragraph. The blocker is lane budget: the PoC needs a session header, MAC-authenticated frames, 256-event / 2-second segment checkpoints, and late-joiner reconstruction tests covering reconnect and partition-heal — that is a 90-minute session's work, and this scheduled lane has ~30 minutes total with a 20-minute lease.
Decision needed (Drew)
One of:
Allocate a long lane — a Muse 90-minute shift, or a direct claim with a 45-minute lease renewed as needed — and the existing brief in the 12:16Z note is enough to start: clean worktree ~/git/fleet/5785, throwaway PoC only.
Scope slice 1 deliberately — session header + MAC-authenticated frames + a single late-joiner reconstruction test, with reconnect and partition-heal split into a follow-up issue. That fits a 30-minute lane and would break the loop at the cost of a smaller first answer.
Handling: task blocked escalated-to-user; issue labels swapped from queue/parked/status/parked to queue/blocked/status/blocked + user/escalated; work/assigned retained. Unblocking either way should also clear user/escalated.

Coverage pass 2026-11-03, loop-back review: this issue was re-reviewed (drift / overlap / already-handled / stale / blockers / ordering) so every open issue in the four repos is reviewed and in the system. Verdict: still live; in the system as task 5785 (small_fix, blocked, priority 40) in repo-health-code-pilot. Labels audited and synced. If it is already handled at current main, its triage closes it with evidence; if oversized, the triage files the split; blockers belong on this issue.
