Some CSI components that are part of cloud provider modules need to make a request to the provider’s API in order to start successfully. In most cases, this requires a DNS query. The cloud provider module starts before
kube-dnsis up, while the kube-dns address is mounted into the CSIresolv.confaccording to theClusterWithHostNetworkpolicy. At that moment, kube-dns is still not available to handle requests. That’s why
dnsPolicyneeds to be made configurable to handle such cases for some modules.
