When a name-only ref() call matches multiple views in different schemas and databases, Dataform should prioritize the one in the default schema and database.
Why
My team wants to deploy the same set of BigQuery views managed by Dataform to different Google Cloud projects (e.g., staging and production). These views have internal dependencies.
Currently, a name-only reference like ref("my_table") causes an "Ambiguous Action name" error if actions with the same name exist in different schemas or databases. We need to full-qualify every dependency (using variables).
It'd simplify our view management significantly if Dataform can disambiguate a name-only reference respecting the default schema and database.
-- Desired: Resolves to `production.my_schema.my_table` or `staging.my_schema.my_table`-- depending on the default schema and database.SELECT*FROM ${ref("my_table")}
