Issue being fixed or feature implemented

Platform pays withdrawals out through Core asset unlock transactions and always emits payload version 1. A v1 unlock gets a new txid every time Platform re-signs it after expiry, so nothing can safely spend its output before it is mined.

Core v24 (dashpay/dash#7639, DIP-0027 amendment dashpay/dips#189) adds payload version 2. It is serialized like v1, but its txid is computed with the trailing 132 payload bytes zeroed (requestedHeight, quorumHash, quorumSig). Every re-signed instance of one withdrawal therefore keeps one txid, and Core can InstantSend-lock the unlock before it is mined. Core rejects v2 before V24 is active (bad-assetunlocktx-version-2), so Platform has to pick the version from Core's fork state in a way every validator agrees on.

Closes #4908

What was done?

The version-choice rule (protocol version 15)

build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents v1 is a new generation, selected only by DRIVE_ABCI_METHOD_VERSIONS_V11 (PV15). When it pools withdrawals (QUEUED → POOLED), a withdrawal gets payload version 2 iff both of these hold:

  • the coinbase of the Core block at the Platform block's core_chain_locked_height has payload version ≥ 4. Core requires CbTx ≥ 4 exactly at the blocks where V24 (and V20) are active (evo/cbtx.cpp), and drive-abci already uses this signal at PV14;
  • the withdrawal's whole amount is not below Core's dust threshold for its output script (core_dust_relay_fee_per_kb).

Otherwise it gets version 1. Core is asked once per pooling block (getblockhash + getspecialtxes), after the empty-input guard and before any document is touched. A coinbase without a payload is DashCoreBadResponseError, and an RPC error propagates; the code never falls back to a default.

Why validators agree. The chain-locked height is part of the block and never decreases. Every Core that holds that block returns the same coinbase. The chosen byte is stored in the withdrawal queue, which is part of the app hash, so a validator whose Core answers wrongly gets a loud app-hash mismatch instead of silently emitting a different transaction.

Why Core accepts it. V24 cannot switch off. The unlock is signed in a later block with requestedHeight ≥ H, and Core mines it only at tips ≥ requestedHeight. So v2 is valid wherever it can be mined. v1 stays valid after V24.

The invariant: the version is frozen at pool time

The version is decided once, where the untied bytes are created, and kept in them. Signing, re-signing after expiry and broadcast are unchanged: re-signing moves the same stored bytes back to the queue, and only the trailing 132 bytes change. A re-signed v2 withdrawal therefore keeps its txid by construction.

The new generation's doc comment states the never-rewrite invariant. Nothing may rewrite those bytes, or change how a signed transaction is built from them, for a withdrawal pooled as v2: an InstantSend lock pins its txid, so an instance with another txid could never be mined while the lock holds. The DIP-0027 txid test (below) pins both transforms (Platform's build_unsigned_transaction and rust-dashcore's build_asset_unlock_tx) and the rust-dashcore pin against Core's vectors.

The dust rule

A withdrawal whose whole amount is below Core's dust threshold stays v1 even with V24 active. That is the same predicate, with the same SystemLimits field, on which rebroadcast_expired_withdrawal_documents v2 marks an expired withdrawal FAILED and stops re-signing it. DIP-0027 v2 obliges Platform to keep re-signing a v2 withdrawal until it is mined, because an InstantSend lock may already rely on it. With this rule FAILED only ever sees v1, which Core never IS-locks, by construction and independent of any node's mempool policy. Both methods call one predicate, withdrawal_amount_is_core_dust in withdrawals/mod.rs, so at the same dust relay fee they agree. Its doc comment states the rule a later protocol version must keep: raising core_dust_relay_fee_per_kb must not let FAILED reach a v2 withdrawal pooled under the lower threshold.

Withdrawals pending at the switch

Every withdrawal pooled before the switch (everything pooled under PV14, or under PV15 before the chain-locked height reaches V24) stays v1 forever, including when it is re-signed. Core keeps accepting v1. On testnet, where V24 is already active, v2 starts with the first PV15 block that pools a withdrawal, and everything in flight at PV15 activation stays v1.

Other changes

  • V24_COINBASE_PAYLOAD_VERSION moved from update_state_masternode_list/mod.rs to rpc/core.rs, next to get_coinbase_payload_version (pure move).
  • Platform<MockCoreRPCLike>::open answers get_coinbase_payload_version with 3 (V24 inactive) by default, so existing tests keep v1 fixtures. Tests that set their own coinbase answer now call core_rpc.checkpoint() first, because mockall uses the first matching expectation. One of them is should_keep_other_entries_without_asking_core, which would otherwise have lost its teeth: the default would silently answer the call it forbids.
  • PV15 docs: the V11 table doc comment, note 9 in v15.rs, and the core_dust_relay_fee_per_kb doc.
  • Broadcast classification (non-consensus, see the in-place section): Core 24's assetunlock-stale-instance and txn-already-known rejections are logged at debug and no longer written to the rejection directory. Both are expected on nodes that replay or catch up, because finalize re-broadcasts committed instances.

No new state transition, document schema, contract version, storage layout or transition_to_version_15 step. No rust-dashcore bump: the pin already has txid() / instance_hash() / STABLE_TXID_VERSION. Signing is unchanged; since #5315 the vote extension already signs the full-serialization hash, which is exactly Core's v2 message.

In-place changes to shipped generations

  • append_signatures_and_broadcast_withdrawal_transactions v0, selected by every protocol version (1–15) and the test platform versions.
    • What changed: a new match arm treats Core's reject reasons assetunlock-stale-instance and txn-already-known as benign (a debug log, no rejection file). They used to fall into the catch-all arm, which logged a warning and wrote a rejection file.
    • Why consensus cannot change: the method writes no Drive state. The arm only decides the log level and whether this node writes a file under its own rejections_path, which nothing reads back. The comment at the edited lines says so.
    • Tests at PlatformVersion::get(14): should_not_record_a_rejection_when_core_holds_a_fresher_instance_or_mined_the_withdrawal, and the control should_still_record_rejections_for_other_reasons (bad-assetunlock-too-late and bad-assetunlocktx-version-2 still write one).
  • rebroadcast_expired_withdrawal_documents v2 (PV14, PV15): its private withdrawal_amount_is_core_dust moved to withdrawals/mod.rs, where build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents v1 calls the same function.
    • Why consensus cannot change: the moved body is unchanged (the same two property reads, convert_credits_to_duffs, and the same < against core_dust_threshold_duffs), and the call site is untouched. It is a pure move with identical output. The shared function's doc comment says that PV14 selects this generation, so an edit there changes a shipped generation.
    • Tests: should_only_treat_amounts_below_the_script_threshold_as_dust now runs at PlatformVersion::get(14) as well as latest(). It passed before and after the move. Mutating the shared < to <= fails it and the pooling-side should_keep_a_dust_withdrawal_at_version_1_even_when_v24_is_active.
  • V24_COINBASE_PAYLOAD_VERSION: moved from update_state_masternode_list/mod.rs (helpers that update_state_masternode_list v0 and v1 share, reached at every protocol version) into rpc/core.rs as pub(crate). Same name, type and value (u16, 4), so the output is identical. The existing tests at PV13/PV14 and latest() exercise both sides of the threshold.
  • Test-only edits in shipped modules:
    • build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents v0: test_build is pinned to PlatformVersion::get(14), since v0 is now frozen.
    • dequeue_and_build_unsigned_withdrawal_transactions v0: new DIP-0027 txid test.
    • pool_withdrawals_into_transactions_queue v2: the tests' fresh Core mock answers the coinbase version and counts the reads.

How Has This Been Tested?

The tests were written first. The ones that pin new behaviour were run against the unimplemented code and failed (red), then passed after the change (green):

Test Red before the change Green after
should_choose_the_asset_unlock_payload_version_from_the_coinbase_at_the_blocks_chain_locked_height: coinbase 3/4/5 → v1/v2/v2; one Core read per block for three documents; the output equals v0's apart from the version byte ✖ (Core never asked) ✔
should_fail_rather_than_guess_when_core_cannot_tell_whether_v24_is_active: Ok(None) → DashCoreBadResponseError, RPC error propagates, no document pooled ✖ (returned Ok) ✔
should_keep_a_dust_withdrawal_at_version_1_even_when_v24_is_active: P2PKH 545/546 and P2SH 539/540 duffs → v1/v2, cross-checked against rebroadcast's FAILED/BROADCASTED at the same amounts ✖ ✔
should_keep_emitting_version_1_asset_unlocks_at_protocol_version_14_even_when_v24_is_active: PV14 never asks Core and emits v1; PV15 emits v2 for the same documents ✖ (PV15 half) ✔
should_not_record_a_rejection_when_core_holds_a_fresher_instance_or_mined_the_withdrawal ✖ (1 file written) ✔
Strategy should_keep_the_txid_of_a_version_2_withdrawal_when_it_is_re_signed_after_expiry: pooled and signed at R₁=1, expired, re-signed at R₂=50; same txid, different instance hash, same base payload and outputs, transactionSignHeight == R₂; completes ✖ (payload v1) ✔
Strategy should_switch_to_version_2_asset_unlocks_at_the_first_chain_locked_height_where_v24_is_active: V24 at core height 50; pooled at 1 → v1, re-signed at 50 still v1 with a new txid; pooled at 49 and first signed at 50 → v1; pooled at 50 → v2; Core asked only in the three pooling blocks (heights 1, 49, 50); all complete ✖ (payload v1 at activation) ✔

These pin behaviour that already exists, so they were green from the start:

  • should_give_a_version_2_withdrawal_cores_stable_txid_through_the_signing_pipeline: the DIP-0027 untied bytes (indices 101 and 123456789) are queued directly, signed through the dequeue dispatcher, re-queued as the expiry step does, and re-signed at another height by another quorum. Both instances carry the DIP-0027 txids 3c4db73c…41cf / a67e1107…af34, and their instance hashes differ. A mutation check (setting lock_time = 1 in build_unsigned_transaction) makes it fail, so it can catch a transform change.
  • should_not_ask_core_when_no_withdrawal_is_pooled and should_ask_core_whether_v24_is_active_only_in_blocks_that_pool_withdrawals (pool v2): 1 read when the block pools, 0 when the Core limit or the daily limit pools nothing, 0 at PV14.
  • should_still_record_rejections_for_other_reasons (control).

Local runs (pasta, CI env RUST_MIN_STACK=4194304 CARGO_PROFILE_DEV_DEBUG=0 CARGO_PROFILE_DEV_CODEGEN_UNITS=256):

  • cargo test -p drive-abci -p platform-version --all-features --locked --lib --bins --tests --no-fail-fast -- --skip shield: drive-abci lib 4,187 passed, all integration binaries green, strategy tests 116 passed and 1 failed. The failure is credit_pool_backfill_tests::should_preserve_historical_token_history_flags_across_public_activation_candidates, which fails the same way (Some(8000) vs Some(108)) on a clean origin/v5.1-dev (60cc5f4). It is unrelated to this change, and CI's PR filterset does not run it.
  • cargo clippy -p drive-abci -p platform-version --all-targets --all-features --locked -- --no-deps -D warnings, and the same without --all-features: clean.
  • cargo fmt --all -- --check: clean.
  • After the dust predicate moved to withdrawals/mod.rs (be5ae99): cargo test -p drive-abci --lib --all-features -- withdrawals:: 59 passed; strategy withdrawal_tests 9 passed; cargo clippy -p drive-abci --all-targets --locked -- --no-deps -D warnings clean with and without --all-features; fmt clean.

Not run: an end-to-end v2 withdrawal on a local network. v5.1-dev's dashmate still runs dashd:23. Manual steps for a dashd:24 network with V24 active:

  1. Withdraw. getrawtransaction <txid> 1 shows payload version 2 and instanceHash ≠ txid, and getassetunlockstatuses [idx] without a height shows instantlock: true.
  2. Force an expiry with prioritisetransaction <txid> 0 -<large>.
  3. Check that the re-signed instance keeps the txid under a new instanceHash.

Breaking Changes

Consensus change at protocol version 15 only (unreleased, not activated on any network): once Core's V24 is active at the chain-locked height, newly pooled withdrawals carry payload version 2. That changes the stored queue bytes, so it is in the app hash. Blocks at PV14 and earlier replay byte-identically (build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents stays 0 there). A devnet already running PV15 from an earlier 5.1 prerelease with V24 active would fork against this binary; the prerelease policy allows that.

Liveness trade-off. Under PV15, every block that pools a withdrawal asks Core for the coinbase at the chain-locked height, even when the height is unchanged. PV14 makes no Core call at an unchanged core height, so it keeps producing blocks through a Core outage. Under PV15, while Core is down on more than a third of validators and any withdrawal is queued that fits the limits, rounds fail until Core returns. It recovers by itself and there is no consensus risk. A follow-up before PV15 ships may remove the RPC once V24 is known active (a node-local note set on commit, or a recorded state field).

Legacy JS. dashcore-lib 0.22 throws on a v2 payload (AssetUnlockPayload.validate(): Invalid version), and wallet-lib's sync worker does not catch it. Once a network runs PV15 with Core V24 active, wallet-lib wallets that receive a withdrawal will break. That includes the platform-test-suite e2e withdrawal test (test/e2e/withdrawals.spec.js). It is a release blocker for PV15, tracked separately by the plan to retire legacy JS, and does not block this PR. CI's e2e network still runs dashd:23, so it is unaffected today.

Open items for the Core team (not blocking)

  • Q3. Can Core's tip currentLimit fall below Platform's window-anchored mirror (calculate_core_anchored_withdrawal_limit)? If it can, Core's pending total exceeds its limit and Core IS-locks nothing until the window clears (dash#7712). That affects whether the IS benefit shows up in practice, not correctness.
  • Q4. Please confirm that CbTx version ≥ 4 will keep implying V24 (fix(drive-abci)!: keep the operator identity when Core re-encodes the same operator key #5461 already relies on it at PV14). Please also confirm, as a standing constraint, that no future fork will invalidate an asset unlock that is already IS-locked. Platform credits IS-locked asset locks funded by unmined v2 unlocks.
  • Q6. Does CheckCanLockAssetUnlock deliberately not apply dust policy? Platform now keeps dust at v1 by construction, so the answer no longer affects safety.

Operational note for the release and runbook docs: before resetting a Platform chain on a Core network with V24 active, drain in-flight withdrawals. A reset restarts withdrawal indexes, and an old IS-locked v2 unlock for index i would conflict with the new chain's withdrawal i.

…ve (PV15)

At protocol version 15, build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents
v1 (selected only by DRIVE_ABCI_METHOD_VERSIONS_V11) gives a withdrawal it
pools asset unlock payload version 2 when the coinbase of the Core block at
the Platform block's chain locked height has payload version 4 or higher
(Core requires that exactly while V24 is active) and the withdrawal's whole
amount is not below Core's dust threshold; otherwise version 1. Core is
asked once per pooling block, and a missing answer fails the block rather
than defaulting.

The version byte is frozen in the stored untied bytes, so every re-signed
instance of a v2 withdrawal keeps Core's stable txid, and withdrawals pooled
before the switch stay v1. Dust stays v1, so the FAILED path only ever ends
v1 withdrawals, which Core never InstantSend-locks. PV14 and earlier keep
generation 0 and replay byte-identically.

Also: V24_COINBASE_PAYLOAD_VERSION moves to rpc/core.rs (pure move); the
mock Core answers coinbase payload version 3 by default, and tests that set
their own answer now clear the defaults first.

Tests written first; red before the change, green after:
- version choice from the coinbase at the chain locked height (3/4/5),
one Core read per block: FAIL before, PASS after
- Ok(None) / RPC error fail the block without pooling: FAIL / PASS
- dust stays v1 (P2PKH and P2SH boundaries, cross-checked against the
  FAILED predicate): FAIL / PASS
- PV14 never asks Core and emits v1: FAIL (PV15 half) / PASS
- strategy: v2 txid kept across expiry and re-sign: FAIL / PASS
- strategy: switch at the first chain locked height with V24: FAIL / PASS
DIP-0027 txid vectors through dequeue and re-sign pin existing transforms
(green from the start; a lock_time mutation makes them fail).

… unlock instances

Core 24 holds one mempool instance per withdrawal index and refuses another
as assetunlock-stale-instance; it refuses an index its credit pool already
paid out as txn-already-known. Both are expected on nodes that replay or
catch up, since finalize re-broadcasts committed instances, so they are now
logged at debug and no longer written to the rejection directory.

In place in append_signatures_and_broadcast_withdrawal_transactions v0
(every protocol version): the method writes no Drive state and the new arm
only decides the log level and whether this node writes a file under its own
rejections_path, so consensus cannot change.

Test at protocol version 14: no rejection file for either reason
(FAIL before: 1 file written; PASS after); other reasons still write one.

Walkthrough

This change adds V24-aware asset-unlock payload selection for withdrawal transactions. It uses Core coinbase payload data and the output dust threshold. Tests cover pooling, signing, re-signing, and selected Core broadcast rejections.

Changes: V24 Asset Unlock Versioning

Layer / File(s) Summary

Explanation

Issue [#4908] coding requirements are met. The PV15 builder reads the coinbase payload version at the block's chain-locked Core height, rejects missing payloads, propagates RPC errors, applies the V24 and dust gates, and stores the selected payload version in the untied bytes. The signing tests verify stable txids across re-signing, changed instance hashes, preserved untied data, and full-pipeline behavior. Tests also cover PV14 compatibility, activation timing, dust boundaries, and broadcast handling. The issue's InstantSend status exposure and local end-to-end test are optional.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes remain within [#4908]. The shared dust predicate supports the required pooling and expiry safety rule. The constant move, mock updates, protocol documentation, and tests support the version gate or preserve prior-generation behavior. The broadcast classification handles expected stale-instance and already-mined results during v2 re-broadcasts. No unrelated state transition, schema, storage, or contract change is shown.

Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

The PV15 versioned dispatch and withdrawal byte-preservation changes are internally consistent, and the Rust workspace check passed. However, activating payload version 2 introduces a blocking compatibility failure for the shipped wallet-lib path, whose pinned dashcore-lib parser rejects version 2 before address filtering. The duplicated dust predicate and the newly introduced per-pooling-block Core RPC dependency are valid non-blocking follow-ups; several JavaScript checks were still in progress at the CI snapshot.

- [BLOCKING] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/platform_events/withdrawals/build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents/v1/mod.rs:86-89: PV15 v2 withdrawals break the shipped wallet-lib transaction sync
Once Core V24 is active, this code emits payload version 2 for every eligible withdrawal. The repository's shipped `packages/wallet-lib` still pins `@dashevo/dashcore-lib` to `~0.22.0`; the pinned parser has `CURRENT_PAYLOAD_VERSION = 1` and rejects version 2 with `Invalid version`. `parseRawTransactions` constructs every raw transaction with `new Transaction(...)` in an uncaught `.map()` before filtering for wallet addresses, so a v2 asset-unlock transaction can abort synchronization rather than being skipped. This is a direct availability break caused by enabling the new wire format, not a malformed or dust-only edge case. Update or safely bypass the legacy parser before activating PV15/V24 for networks serving these clients, or gate activation until a compatible wallet release is available.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/platform_events/withdrawals/build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents/v1/mod.rs:152-168: Share the dust predicate between pooling and expiry handling
The new pooling generation adds a private `withdrawal_amount_is_core_dust` implementation that duplicates the equivalent private implementation in `rebroadcast_expired_withdrawal_documents/v2`. The safety invariant depends on both predicates remaining identical: pooling must never emit a version 2 withdrawal that expiry handling later marks `FAILED`, because a version 2 transaction may already be InstantSend-locked and must continue to be re-signed. Module privacy and comments do not prevent these copies from drifting when thresholds, fee sources, or comparisons change. Move the predicate to a shared withdrawal-owned helper, while retaining boundary coverage at both callers.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/platform_events/withdrawals/build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents/v1/mod.rs:61-71: Track or remove the new Core RPC dependency on every PV15 pooling block
Under PV15, every block that successfully pools at least one withdrawal calls `get_coinbase_payload_version` at the chain-locked height, even when that height has not changed and V24 was already established. A Core outage therefore propagates as a block-processing error in a path where PV14 could continue at an unchanged height. The PR documents this liveness trade-off and defers a node-local cache or recorded activation state, but supplies no linked tracking issue. Create a tracked follow-up and make the cache/activation-state work an explicit prerequisite for PV15 rollout, or implement the monotonic V24-active cache before activation.

🔴 Blocking: PV15 v2 withdrawals break the shipped wallet-lib transaction sync

Once Core V24 is active, this code emits payload version 2 for every eligible withdrawal. The repository's shipped packages/wallet-lib still pins @dashevo/dashcore-lib to ~0.22.0; the pinned parser has CURRENT_PAYLOAD_VERSION = 1 and rejects version 2 with Invalid version. parseRawTransactions constructs every raw transaction with new Transaction(...) in an uncaught .map() before filtering for wallet addresses, so a v2 asset-unlock transaction can abort synchronization rather than being skipped. This is a direct availability break caused by enabling the new wire format, not a malformed or dust-only edge case. Update or safely bypass the legacy parser before activating PV15/V24 for networks serving these clients, or gate activation until a compatible wallet release is available.

Known, and outside this PR: it is a tracked release blocker for PV15. The PR body describes it under Breaking Changes → Legacy JS. dashcore-lib 0.22's AssetUnlockPayload.validate() throws Invalid version on a v2 payload, and wallet-lib's sync worker does not catch it, so wallet-lib wallets break once a network runs PV15 with Core V24 active.

A separate plan handles it: retire the legacy JS stack and make one last dashcore-lib release that parses v2 before PV15 ships. The dashcore-lib part of that plan is still being decided. The consensus design here stays as it is. The payload version follows Core's fork state, and client compatibility gets fixed before the PV15 release rather than through the version choice. CI's e2e network still runs dashd:23, so V24 is never active there and nothing breaks today.

Leaving this thread open until that release blocker is closed.

I agree this can be handled as a PV15 release gate rather than by changing this consensus implementation, but the PR description and reply do not link the compatibility work. Before I mark this deferred, please link the tracking issue or release PR for updating/bypassing the legacy wallet parser, or say so and I’ll file an issue in dashpay/platform covering the wallet-lib and dashcore-lib coordination.

Not deferred yet: a deferral needs a tracking issue for the follow-up; until then the finding stands.

The dashcore-lib side is tracked by dashpay/dashcore-lib#317 ("Support Dash Core v24 wire formats …, version 2 asset-unlock txid"). wallet-lib's @dashevo/dashcore-lib bump follows from that release. As written, #317 covers the v2 txid rule (txid over the serialization with the trailing 132 payload bytes zeroed). The fix it tracks also has to make AssetUnlockPayload.validate() accept payload version 2: dashcore-lib 0.22's CURRENT_PAYLOAD_VERSION = 1 is what throws Invalid version inside wallet-lib's parseRawTransactions.

Leaving this thread open as a PV15 release gate until that release is out and wallet-lib picks it up.

Thanks, dashpay/dashcore-lib#317 is relevant tracking for the required v2 parser and txid support; I’m deferring this as a PV15 release gate until that release is consumed by wallet-lib.

Tracked in dashpay/dashcore-lib#317. Deferred on a maintainer's call: this finding no longer blocks this pull request.

🟡 Suggestion: Track or remove the new Core RPC dependency on every PV15 pooling block

Under PV15, every block that successfully pools at least one withdrawal calls get_coinbase_payload_version at the chain-locked height, even when that height has not changed and V24 was already established. A Core outage therefore propagates as a block-processing error in a path where PV14 could continue at an unchanged height. This is documented in the PR body under Breaking Changes → Liveness trade-off. Under PV15, a block that pools a withdrawal asks Core for the coinbase at the chain-locked height, even when that height has not changed. While Core is down on more than a third of validators and a withdrawal fits the limits, rounds fail until Core returns. The chain recovers by itself, and there is no consensus risk.

A follow-up before PV15 ships is planned. It would drop the per-block RPC once V24 is known to be active, for example by recording "V24 active since core height H₀" in platform state so that later pooling blocks read state instead of asking Core. The form it takes is still pending a decision.

Leaving this thread open until then.

I agree this liveness trade-off can be deferred if the per-block Core RPC is removed or replaced before PV15 rollout, but describing the follow-up in the PR is not tracking it. Please link the issue or PR for recording V24 activation state and eliminating the repeated RPC dependency, or say so and I’ll file it in dashpay/platform.

Not deferred yet: a deferral needs a tracking issue for the follow-up; until then the finding stands.

…nd expiry

build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents v1 keeps a dust
withdrawal at asset unlock payload version 1, and
rebroadcast_expired_withdrawal_documents v2 marks an expired dust
withdrawal FAILED. Each had its own private copy of
withdrawal_amount_is_core_dust, and the safety of v2 asset unlocks rests
on the two agreeing: FAILED must never reach a version 2 withdrawal, which
an InstantSend lock may rely on. The predicate now lives once in
withdrawals/mod.rs and both methods call it.

In-place change to a shipped generation: rebroadcast v2 is selected by
PV14 and PV15. The moved body is unchanged and its call site untouched, so
the output is identical. The shared function's doc says an edit there
changes a shipped generation.

should_only_treat_amounts_below_the_script_threshold_as_dust now also
runs at PlatformVersion::get(14). It passed before and after the move.
Mutating the shared `<` to `<=` fails it and the pooling-side
should_keep_a_dust_withdrawal_at_version_1_even_when_v24_is_active, so
both callers keep boundary coverage.

Generate real quorum signatures before asserting signature validity.

The fixture creates each withdrawal vote extension with signature: vec![0; 96] and forwards it unchanged to the broadcast path. The Core mock records the transaction without validating quorum_sig, so the re-signing test can pass with invalid signatures.

Generate each signature from the full-serialization digest with the corresponding current_quorum.private_key, then verify both broadcasts with that quorum’s public key. The plwdtx request ID selects the quorum; it is not part of the digest.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

Updated after discussion: 1 finding(s) of this review were settled in the inline threads; no blocking finding remains.

  • ⏭️ Deferred (maintainer decision): 🔴 PV15 v2 withdrawals break the shipped wallet-lib transaction sync (tracked in dashpay/dashcore-lib#317)

The PV15 withdrawal generation is correctly version-gated and the dust predicate duplication is fixed. However, activating version-2 asset unlocks still makes the shipped wallet-lib synchronization path fail on legitimate withdrawals, and the new per-pooling-block Core RPC dependency introduces an untracked liveness regression. CI has no reported code failure, but some checks remain pending.

Once Core V24 is active, this code emits asset-unlock payload version 2 for eligible withdrawals. The in-repository wallet-lib still pins `@dashevo/dashcore-lib` to `~0.22.0`; that parser accepts only payload version 1 and throws `Invalid version` for version 2. `parseRawTransactions` constructs every streamed transaction with `new Transaction(...)` in an uncaught `map` before filtering by wallet address, so one legitimate v2 withdrawal can abort synchronization instead of being skipped. Update the wallet/dashcore-lib parser or safely bypass unsupported transactions before activating PV15/V24 for networks serving these clients, or enforce an activation gate tied to a compatible wallet release. The PR description and discussion acknowledge the break but do not provide a linked tracking reference or landed compatibility gate.
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/platform_events/withdrawals/build_untied_withdrawal_transactions_from_documents/v1/mod.rs:60-68: Track or remove the new Core RPC dependency on every PV15 pooling block
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/platform/pull/5634#discussion_r4400969885)
Under PV15, every block that pools at least one withdrawal performs `get_coinbase_payload_version` at the chain-locked Core height, even after an earlier block has already established that V24 is active. The call is in the block-processing path and its errors propagate, so a Core outage on enough validators can prevent rounds from completing whenever a withdrawal fits the pooling limits, whereas PV14 can continue at an unchanged Core height. The PR documents this liveness trade-off and mentions a future cache or recorded activation state, but no issue or PR tracks it and no rollout prerequisite enforces it. Implement a deterministic monotonic activation state/cache or link a concrete follow-up and make it an explicit PV15 rollout prerequisite.
