Add the Subscribe Card newsletter template (newsletter-subscribe-card) #68

Closed

Description

@anurag629

Part of #5. A newsletter landing card with a mock signup form.

Idea
Centered stack: a frequency pill ("Every Friday"), the newsletter name, and a one-line pitch. Below is a mock form: a rounded input-shaped box with a muted "you@example.com", joined to an accent "Subscribe" button. Under that, "Join 12,400 readers" sits next to 4 small overlapping circles (negative left margin).

Template details

  • File: src/templates/newsletter/subscribe-card.ts, id newsletter-subscribe-card
  • Fields: commonFields.title, commonFields.description, frequency (text), subscriberCount (text), ctaText (text, default "Subscribe"), commonFields.siteName, commonFields.bgColor, commonFields.accentColor, commonFields.textColor

Where to look

  • Closest reference: src/templates/newsletter/subscriber-count.ts, src/templates/product/centered-hero.ts (CTA pill)

Acceptance criteria

  • The reader line is hidden when subscriberCount is empty
  • Re-exported in src/templates/newsletter/index.ts and registered in the Newsletter block of src/templates/registry.ts
  • Meets the shared template checklist in Add new card-style OG image templates #5

One template per contributor at a time, so more people get a chance.

Hi @anurag629! My Shortcut Tip template (#154) is merged, so I'd like to build this one next. Could you assign it to me? I've also asked for chatcops #235, and I'll take one issue at a time within each repo.

    My plan:

    • Add src/templates/newsletter/subscribe-card.ts with id newsletter-subscribe-card and the fields in the issue (frequency, subscriberCount, ctaText defaulting to "Subscribe", plus the common fields), using subscriber-count.ts and the CTA pill in centered-hero.ts as references
    • Hide the reader line when subscriberCount is empty, and keep text short with truncate() and autoFontSize()
    • Re-export it in src/templates/newsletter/index.ts and register it in the Newsletter block of src/templates/registry.ts, appended at the end
    • Go through the shared checklist in Add new card-style OG image templates #5, check it in the editor with long text and empty optional fields, and render real PNGs for the screenshots
    • npm run check, npm run test and npm run build pass

    I'll branch off dev. Thanks!

Hey @Saifjafri212213, go for it! It's yours. Your plan sounds good.

Small correction on the limit: it counts across all our repos, not per repo. With 3 or more merged PRs you can hold two issues at once, and I've also given you toolbelt #237, so that's your two for now.

One more thing, the template checklist in #5 has a newer line: the card should still read well on a light background (bgColor #ffffff with a dark textColor). Good to check that before the screenshots.
