State of heating is "idle" when physical controller is definitely on #663
I'm not too sure how to explain this any better. All of the periods in the graph above where it is not orange, the state of the controller shows "idle", however it should be fully filled in as orange because the heating channel is actually on.
Got it, alas I dont have any previous data to investigate (ie the heating is off).. and my historical data got trashed..
I need to look at the code and work out where we get the idle from (hvac_action)..
this may take until the heating comes on to diagnose....
Thanks for confirming this is a V1 hub without OpenTherm. This looks similar to the OpenTherm issue, but it may have a different cause.
The climate entity's heating/idle state is based on the individual room's ControlOutputState, while the light on the physical controller represents the heating channel relay. The channel can remain on because another room is requesting heat even when this particular room is idle.
If this still happens with 4.0.0 RC1, could you confirm whether the room shown in the graph is actively requesting heat during one of the gaps? If possible, please also provide diagnostics captured while the controller light is on but the climate entity reports idle. This will let us compare the room demand with the heating-channel state and determine whether the hub is reporting inconsistent data.

Can you explain the issue a little more?

are you using V2 hub with opentherm connection?, if so it's a known issue, I'm on fixing atm....

No, this is a v1 hub in non-OpenTherm mode

@andyblac As we go into the winter season I will keep an eye on this on version 4.0.1 and update
