The error message is very generic. Make sure the server is actually listening on the given host/port before connecting the client to it.

when we are using Desired capabilities as option on Appium 3.0 server, it throws generic error session not created
as we know - Desired capabilities option is depreacted on 3.0
Expected : Its should throw Deprecated or unsupported desired capabilities or compile time error

We rely on selenium client lib for capability parsing. The latter still allows to provide deprecated desired capabilities due to reasons unknown to me. Consider creating an issue to the selenium repo.

Currently selenium client passes legacy desired capabilities through. I assume the reporter wants an exception to be thrown instead.

Selenium does not send desiredCapabilities in the payload. We removed that several versions ago.

The exception stack trace itself looks ok to me. Perhaps it could be improved, so the original error (Illegal key values seen in w3c capabilities: [acceptAlerts, app, autoDismissAlerts, automationName, bundleId, fullReset, launchTimeout, newCommandTimeout, noReset, trust, udid, wdaLaunchTimeout]) could be propagated properly to the top instead of being substituted by SessionNotCreatedException in the execute method of RemoteWebDriver, but this whole implementation still lives in selenium lib.
