[FEATURE]: Native AI Council workspace for the Windows desktop app #57721
Description
Feature hasn't been suggested before.
- I have verified this feature I'm about to request hasn't been suggested before.
Describe the enhancement you want to request
I built an AI Council proof of concept on top of OpenCode, and I'd like to propose its core UX as a native workspace in the Windows desktop app (feature request, not a bug report).
The idea in one line. Several independent OpenCode sessions discuss the same task for two structured rounds, objections are collected, and the human owner supervises everything and decides what gets executed.
The UX problem today. The prototype already talks to the local OpenCode service and works — but it lives in a separate local window with a right-to-left (Arabic) interface built by hand. Inside the Windows desktop app there is no native place to:
- route project roles to several real sessions and see them side by side,
- view the live message stream between those sessions in one place,
- intervene as the owner at any point (send rules, correct a direction),
- stop / resume / export a multi-session discussion as first-class controls,
- approve execution with a clear scope (a specific step + an explicit file list + backups).
Running many background agents in parallel is not the same experience. The value here is the visible, structured discussion between sessions with a human gate — not just parallelism.
What the prototype does locally (proof of concept status: working core loop, partial UI review).
- One independent session per agent role (for example: data, automation, review, Arabic writing), plus an on-demand planning agent.
- Round 1: each agent states its position. Round 2: each agent reads the others and writes objections; then a plan is produced.
- The owner can intervene at any time; owner decisions always win.
- Execution is owner-gated and scoped afterward: only the approved steps, with backups.
What I'm requesting. A native "AI Council" workspace (tab or sidebar) in the Windows desktop app:
- session routing — map project roles to real OpenCode sessions,
- a live cross-session message stream in one view,
- owner intervention at any point,
- stop / resume / export as first-class controls,
- scoped execution approvals — approve steps and explicit file lists only.
Related, and why this is different (checked before opening this):
- [FEATURE]: LLM Council support #4789 (closed, not planned) — "LLM Council" as model selection with voting.
- [FEATURE]: Multi-LLM structured team debate — design reference from working implementation #25766 (closed, not planned) — Conclave, a fork with a TUI debate engine that picks a winner.
- feat: Implement opencode-council-swarm - Multi-agent coordination system #9446 — opencode-council-swarm, a multi-agent coordination system.
Mine is not a fork and not a winner-selects debate: it is a desktop workspace UX for owner-supervised, structured two-round deliberation with scoped human-approved execution — expressed as a native tab/sidebar rather than a CLI feature or a separate app.
Status. Proof of concept, unofficial — no claim that it is integrated into OpenCode. The linked repo is documentation only (no code, no logs). Happy to share details or walk through the approach one-on-one if useful.

Thanks for the detailed proposal and for building a working prototype first!
If I understand it right, you're asking for a native "AI Council" workspace in the desktop app. It would route project roles to several real sessions, show their discussion live in one view, and let you step in at any point. It would also have stop, resume and export controls, and only run steps and file lists that you explicitly approve.
I've marked this as a feature request for the maintainers to consider. These existing issues cover nearby ground and may be worth following:
As far as I can tell, there isn't yet a way to add your own panel or tab to the desktop app as a plugin. The app's UI features are built-in extensions, so a workspace like this can't ship as an add-on today. Your prototype's approach of driving sessions through the local OpenCode server is the supported way to orchestrate sessions from outside the app.

Hi! Thanks for the detailed proposal and for sharing your proof of concept. Unfortunately, we don’t have plans to add a native AI Council workspace to OpenCode, so I’m closing this as not planned. We appreciate you taking the time to explain the idea!
