Startup Error: EUNKNOWN: unknown error, lstat '\\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\' -> The application is no longer usable #23375

Closed as not planned

Description

@LaKanDoR

Description

This is caused by the fact that \wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\ no longer exists.

The application is no longer usable.

However, there is now a D_Ubuntu installation running under WSL with DDEV.

I think it has something to do with restoring the last work session.

OpenCode version

Version: 1.14.17

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect to a WSL instance using OpenCode.

  2. Export the WSL instance and delete it using the --unregister option (e.g., the default "Ubuntu" installation).

  3. Restart OpenCode. The absence of the WSL "Ubuntu" instance will result in a startup error, rendering the application unusable.

    @JBKing514

    You can temporarily rename the OpenCode storage folder (e.g., %USERPROFILE%.local\share\opencode for Windows or a similar path in your OS) to bypass the startup crash. This allows you to access the UI with a clean state while keeping your project list intact. Once in the UI, close the specific project that triggers the lstat error. Finally, restore the original folder name to bring back your chat history.

    thx.

    I have since completed the installation. However, it would be nice if one could resume from the point of the error message—for example, by loading a different project.
