    This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

    • Copilot: output_config.effort "max" is not supported by model claude-opus-4.6 #22788: Same root cause — GitHub Copilot silently changed supported API parameters for Claude Opus models. That issue reports output_config.effort "max" not being supported, while this one reports thinking.type.enabled not being supported. Both appear to be part of the same Copilot API change affecting thinking/effort configuration for Claude Opus.

    Same issue with Anthropic provider

    @Seumi

    Same error reproduces on the OpenCode Zen provider as well, so this is not specific to the GitHub Copilot provider — likely a shared upstream issue with how OpenCode sends the thinking config to Claude Opus 4.7.

    Environment

    • OpenCode version: 1.4.6
    • Provider: OpenCode Zen (subscription)
    • Model: Claude Opus 4.7
    • OS: macOS 26.4

    Steps to reproduce

    1. Select Claude Opus 4.7 via the OpenCode Zen provider
    2. Toggle the thinking/reasoning switch on in the TUI
    3. Send any message

    Error

    "thinking.type.enabled" is not supported for this model. Use "thinking.type.adaptive" and "output_config.effort" to control thinking behavior.

    The error message from the upstream API suggests OpenCode should migrate from thinking.type.enabled to thinking.type.adaptive + output_config.effort for Opus 4.7.

    For github copilot specifically, I think we may be mistakenly showing models u may not have access to, for example I can see it in my model list but the api says it is "disabled"

    If you can access the model in other copilot products it should work tho.
