Tailoring files using libopenscap

Hello everyone,i was testing tailoring using oscap and autotailor and i noticed that the only way to create my custom profile was to tailor an existing one,basically i need to choose a profile in advance and then select/unselect rules from it.
My question is :
Is there a way to build my own profile from nothing using autotailor or does it need a pre-existing profile,because i want to choose from the whole selection of rules created for ubuntu24 for example,let's say ubuntu24 has 500 rules,i want to find a way to select/unselect from the whole list not only the list provided in a specific profile

Based on the XCCDF 1.2 spec I believe you can drop extends from the profile element under tailoring and create a new profile.

does libopenscap offer that in its API(creating an empty profile and then adding rules to it or having all of the rules and then unselecting)or should i do it on my own(parsing the benchmark and extracting the rules),i need this because i want to save created profiles from scratch.

I didn't find anything in the API that could help me do that so I wrote a function that gets me all of the rules inside of the benchmark,thanks anyways and have a good day
