CCometixLine's usage segment shows how much of Claude's 5-hour window is used. When it is nearly full, what many people do next is switch to Codex and explain the task all over again. ccx is a macOS menu bar app that does that hand-off with the full context: messages, task list, condensed tool output and
git status, kept in sync both ways. With CCometixLine's usage segment on, ccx warns once when Claude's 5-hour window passes 90% and once when it is used up, and offers to continue the task in Codex in one click. No setup is needed on either side. How ccx uses CCometixLine: it reads the usage cache at
~/.claude/ccline/.api_usage_cache.json(five_hour_utilization,seven_day_utilization,resets_at), only whencached_atis less than 15 minutes old. Sinceresets_atbelongs to the weekly window, ccx uses it only for a used-up weekly window and leaves the 5-hour reset time unknown. It never reads credentials, never writes the cache and never calls the usage API itself. This shipped in ccx v0.0.34 (MIT, everything local). The change is one line in "Related Projects".
