os/v3 puppy: the console offers 'Install 1bit OS to a disk' on an installed box and the guard then refuses its own disk #1167
The console brief's item 5 has two halves: not installed → show the target disk, the warning and a typed confirmation, then install; installed → "show the installed-disk facts instead". The second half was never built.
So on an installed box (the state the owner reaches right after the install step) pressing 5 offers Install 1bit OS to a disk, the person answers yes, and 1bit-console-install refuses the disk this system booted from:
/dev/nvme0n1 490.5G INTEL SSDPEKNW512G8 <- this boot (refused)
This system booted from /dev/nvme0n1: it cannot be the target.
Correct, safe, and reads as a broken install rather than as "this is already installed" — on the one screen a person looks at after installing. The console also has no way to say which disk it is installed on, and no way to point a second install somewhere useful without first being told its own disk is refused.
