OSM tiles not available in Superset Mapbox charts

OSM basemaps can be selected in Deck.gl charts via DECKGL_BASE_MAP, but in Mapbox charts, the dropdown only shows official Mapbox styles (e.g., Streets, Light, Satellite) and ignores any OSM configuration. How can I make OSM appear in chart Mapbox? Is it possible to do this?

It's not possible to use OSM tiles as a basemap in Mapbox charts in Superset. OSM and other custom tile providers are only supported in Deck.gl charts via the DECKGL_BASE_MAP configuration. Mapbox charts only support official Mapbox styles, and the dropdown ignores any OSM or custom tile configuration. This is a product limitation, not a configuration or CORS/CSP issue. If you need OSM tiles, use Deck.gl charts, or follow Superset's roadmap for any future support in Mapbox charts. More details and community discussion can be found here and here.

Okay, so how can I display numbers on the map in a Deck.gl Scatterplot like in Mapbox?

Deck.gl Scatterplot charts in Superset don't support showing numbers or labels directly on the map points—numbers (metrics) only appear in tooltips when you hover over a point (source). If you need static labels (like numbers always visible on the map), that's not available in the Scatterplot chart.

If you need labels/icons on the map, the Deck.gl Geojson chart now supports text labels and icons, but you'll need to use that chart type and enable the ENABLE_JAVASCRIPT_CONTROLS feature flag (source). For Scatterplot, your best option is to use tooltips or consider switching to Geojson if your use case allows.
